Come the weekend or a weekday evening, I always end up stuck on "what should I eat today?" This time I found a place that nails the crispy comfort food everyone loves, no matter their age or taste — a handmade pork cutlet restaurant newly opened in Yongsan called Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang!
I recently visited with a friend and ordered a well-rounded spread — the rich cheddar cheese donkatsu, a warm bowl of udon, and a hearty set menu. Here's my honest, no-filter review. ✨
Where is Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang's Yongsan branch, and what is the space like?
The Yongsan branch of Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang is a handmade pork cutlet restaurant tucked in an alley off Baekbeom-ro, close to Hyochangwon Park Station. The clean, fresh storefront and a cute bear mascot catch your eye right away.

Stepping inside, the warm wood-toned interior gives off a cozy vibe. Along with regular 2- and 4-top tables, there are neatly arranged bar seats by the window and near the kitchen, perfect for solo dining or a date.
Finding a spot in Yongsan for a stress-free solo lunch is oddly competitive among office workers these days, but Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang's Yongsan branch has good table turnover and enough seating that eating alone here felt relaxed and easy.
Why Onjeong fries its pork cutlets in a steam-injection fryer
On one wall of the restaurant there's a sign explaining their cooking method. Unlike typical home or restaurant fryers, they actively use a steam-injection fryer.

- Keeps the oil clean: frying debris sinks into a water layer below instead of burning, so the oil stays clear longer and oxidizes much more slowly.
- Consistent crispness: because impurities don't contaminate the oil at high heat, the cutlet stays crisp without going soggy even down to the last bite — a true crispy-outside, juicy-inside experience.
- Healthier, cleaner taste: it significantly reduces harmful byproducts, so anyone can enjoy this premium fried dish worry-free.
Knowing about this careful kitchen philosophy and attention to detail got my expectations way up before I'd even tasted the food!
Kiosk menu prices and the unlimited self bar
Ordering was simple and contactless via the kiosk right at the entrance. The Yongsan branch of Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang has a solid lineup, from main dishes to noodles to signature sets.

- Signature mains: Doduram Korean pork gyeongyang-sik donkatsu (₩13,000), the addictively spicy-crisp Onjeong spicy donkatsu (₩13,500), the rich cheddar-flavored cheddar cheese donkatsu (₩13,500), and the golden Onjeong curry donkatsu (₩13,500).
- Hearty sets: warm udon with gyeongyang-sik donkatsu (small) (₩14,500), udon with cheddar cheese donkatsu (small) (₩15,000), and more set combos to mix and match.

The four signature menu items! The posters alone look seriously impressive.

A huge plus for anyone ordering one dish per person: unlimited rice and fresh side dishes at the self bar! You can scoop warm rice straight from a big rice cooker, and there's crunchy kkakdugi and pickled radish to whet your appetite, plus tableware and sauces kept hygienically organized — perfect if you want to fill up properly. 👍 (Note: not available for young children)

Aprons are self-serve too~
Cheddar cheese donkatsu and the udon with gyeongyang-sik donkatsu (small) set
That day at the Yongsan branch of Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, I ordered the cheddar cheese donkatsu (₩13,500) and my friend chose the udon and gyeongyang-sik donkatsu (small) set (₩14,500). While we were chatting, the dishes arrived neatly plated as individual wood-tray settings. The visuals alone were impressive! #Drool guaranteed

My order, the 'cheddar cheese donkatsu bursting with cheddar flavor,' was a thick handmade pork loin cutlet fried crispy and drenched with a generous, thick, rich cheddar cheese sauce like a waterfall. With every bite, that savory, deep cheese flavor spread happily through my mouth!
They apparently use only carefully selected fresh Doduram Korean pork loin trimmed the same day — there wasn't a hint of gamey smell, and the meat was juicy, showing the real craftsmanship of a handmade pork cutlet.

Slathering strawberry jam on the round, cute rolls served alongside and sandwiching the cutlet inside to make a mini burger was a fun little delicacy I couldn't skip!

The cream soup served before the main dish, warming and softening the stomach, was excellent too — so savory.

My friend's udon and gyeongyang-sik donkatsu (small) set was also a total hit.

The warm fried fish cake and tofu skin udon, piled generously with tofu skin and tempura flakes, had a rich, deep broth that neatly cut through the greasiness of the crispy cutlet, playing a fantastic supporting role. It made total sense why local office workers line up here every mealtime and word has spread about this being a top pork cutlet restaurant near Hyochangwon Park!
A free can of soda for a Naver photo review
Right now, Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang's Yongsan branch is running a nice Naver photo review event for visitors. Take a good photo of your food, write a short receipt review, and show it to staff, and you'll get a refreshing can of soda for free.

Verdict: a pork cutlet dinner Yongsan office workers will love
With carefully chosen ingredients, an excellent steam-injection frying method, and care packed into every bite down to the last one, Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang's Yongsan branch left me thoroughly satisfied!
