Hi, it's Mijoy 💜 Today I visited Miraehoegwan, a meat restaurant in Hannam-dong. It's a grill bar concept specializing in dry-aged pork and beef — not just a place to grill and eat, but one where you can feel careful attention put into the space design, the banchan lineup, and the aging of the meat itself. I took plenty of photos, so let me give you a detailed review!

Where is Miraehoegwan Hannam, and what does it look like?

Miraehoegwan is located in an alley off Daesagwan-ro in Hannam-dong. On the first floor is Jinjukkotdwaeji charcoal grill restaurant, with Miraehoegwan on the floor above. The yellow neon-framed windows and vintage sign work together to capture the hip yet upscale commercial vibe unique to Hannam-dong.

Inside Miraehoegwan Hannam: seating, mood and the photo spot

Walking in, there's a large mirror printed with the menu names in English set up as a photo zone, so visitors naturally end up taking photos there 📸

Here's the overall interior. It had an impressively modern, clean atmosphere. Each table has a built-in round grill, so you can start grilling right after sitting down — a practical layout.

Coat rack and bag storage area at the entrance

Near the entrance, there's a separate coat rack and bag storage area, a nice touch that lets you take off your coat and focus on the meal. Further inside, there's a room-style separated space that looked great for small gatherings or business dinners.

Basic banchan setup of myeongi-namul, baek-kimchi, and pa-kimchi

Side dishes, four sauces and the sweet potato mousse salad

Isn't this banchan spread so neat? Myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaves), baek-kimchi, and pa-kimchi — an essential trio for a meat meal — were all set out neatly. Four sauces came alongside, which was great for mixing and matching depending on the cut and your taste.

Salad with sweet potato mousse

This salad was also really good — one bite and the soft sweetness of the sweet potato mousse contrasted nicely with the crunch of the vegetables, while the savory, slightly salty dressing balanced everything out. A great way to whet the appetite before the main meat course.

Somaek ordered alongside Set A

Set A: pork neck plus dry-aged pork belly

We ordered Set A and some somaek haha. The set comes with pork neck and dry-aged pork belly. Dry-aged pork neck — I was excited just imagining how fresh and delicious it would be before even taking a bite.

Cross-section of trimmed dry-aged pork

Our set arrived 👏 The cross-section with its vivid marbling was gorgeous. You could tell at a glance it had been trimmed while still fresh and juicy. As you'd expect from a dry-aging specialist, the color and texture of the meat showed a level of quality all its own.

Thick pork neck grilling on the tabletop grill

Pork neck grilled at the table by staff

We grilled the pork neck first. I figured such a thick cut would take a while to cook, but the staff grilled it with a professional touch, so we could just relax and watch it cook beautifully. With the lighting on top, the meat looked even more radiant ✨

Complimentary hot stone sukju-muchim (bean sprout side dish)

This is the sukju-muchim (bean sprout side dish) that comes free with a meat order — bean sprouts, mushrooms, and chili stir-fried together in a hot stone pot. The crunch of the sprouts and the slight kick of chili came together, with a salty soy-based seasoning evenly coating everything. Paired with the meat, it was a great combination that cut through the richness.

Thanks to a well-controlled grill that kept the outside crisp and the inside moist, the meat cooked evenly without losing any juiciness.

A perfectly grilled piece of pork neck

The pork neck had great texture with no chewiness at all, and it was so juicy and delicious 😭 We also tried the recommended combination, and I was surprised how well it paired with the bean sprouts! It's delicious on its own, but pairing it with the side dishes brought out even richer flavor and aroma.

I don't usually dip meat in salt, but my boyfriend strongly recommended it, so I gave in and tried it — and wow, it was so good haha! Textbook sweet-and-salty combo!

Meat paired with wasabi, salt, and pa-kimchi

It's delicious with pa-kimchi too, of course, and also with the wasabi-plus-salt combo. With such a varied banchan spread and four different sauces to dip into, there were so many ways to enjoy it.

As we were finishing the pork neck, the staff came by and grilled the pork belly next. They timed it perfectly so there was no lull in the meal — loved that haha.

How the dry-aged pork belly tastes

You can tell just by looking how fresh the meat is. Miraehoegwan says they age carefully selected top 1% raw meat for the optimal amount of time. That really came through — the color, texture, and flavor all spoke to genuinely high-quality meat.

Juicy grilled pork belly

This was hands down the best pork belly I've had recently 👍 The texture was somewhere between chewy and crisp, and it was so satisfying it's still lingering in my mind. Not to mention the flavor — it held so much juice that it burst out with every bite. Truly the best.

A luxurious wrap topped with myeongi-namul and pa-kimchi

A truly luxurious wrap haha. The fragrance of the myeongi-namul, the deep umami of the meat, and the kick of the pa-kimchi all burst together in your mouth at once, letting you really taste every layer.

Is Miraehoegwan Hannam worth it for a special occasion?

This Hannam-dong Korean BBQ spot, Miraehoegwan, had it all — freshness and aging of the meat, plus a banchan and sauce lineup that complemented it perfectly. With its industrial interior and thoughtfully designed photo zone, I felt it would be a great choice for a special occasion too. If you're looking for a proper meat restaurant in Hannam-dong, I highly recommend giving Miraehoegwan a visit 👍👍
