Jazz restaurant near Songpanaru Station, 15% lunch deal: Allegro

Today I visited Allegro, a new restaurant near Songpanaru Station that's become a Songpa favorite!

Where Allegro is and how to book a table

For my visit to Allegro I booked ahead through Catch Table, reserving a 7pm slot. It's located on the 3rd floor of the building.

Before entering, you can already check the menu — a variety of Italian dishes plus drinks. If you visit for lunch, there's a 15% discount, so I'd recommend a lunch visit too haha.

What makes Allegro special — and why it also suits anyone looking for good Italian food near Jamsil — is that it's an Italian restaurant where you can enjoy live jazz, with a different musician performing every day!

Inside Allegro: atmosphere and seating

Inside, Allegro has a modern black-and-white feel, with tables for two as well as group seating for four or more. The lighting is pretty and the space is nicely decorated, making it a perfect date spot. One more thing to note — the stage and seating are set very close together! What I liked about that was being able to hear the music up close and even see the musicians' expressions and hand movements haha.

After being shown to our seats, the server poured us water.

Orders are placed via tablet, and since we'd already decided on our menu beforehand, it didn't take long.

The three dishes ordered at Allegro

We ordered the sous-vide pork shoulder steak, mushroom cream potato gnocchi, and seafood salad. The mushroom cream potato gnocchi was so good I'm still thinking about it — if you go, you have to order the gnocchi..!

Bread to start and the seafood salad

The first thing to arrive was the bread. I waited and had it together with the seafood salad.

The seafood salad had shrimp, mussels, octopus and more mixed in, paired with a refreshing sauce — really nice as a starter. The seafood felt fresh, which gave me some confidence in the taste right away haha.

The lighting felt really warm in person, though it looks a bit pale in the photos. Unfortunately there was no beating the lighting no matter what I tried haha. But it was delicious! The combination of olives and octopus worked really well together. I decided to order something different from my usual salad order, and I'm glad I did haha.

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi

Next came the mushroom cream potato gnocchi. The mushroom cream was savory and paired so well with the potato gnocchi — so delicious. Kind of an addictive flavor haha. It's been two days since my visit and I'm still thinking about this gnocchi...!

Sous-vide pork shoulder steak

Last was the sous-vide pork shoulder steak. Pork shoulder is honestly really hard to grill well, so I usually avoid pork shoulder steak — but because this one was sous-vide, it was very tender and not tough at all. The fries and sauce that came with it were perfect too hahaha.

I almost ordered extra sauce but held back haha.

The combination of dishes was great and the overall balance was really good. Sadly I couldn't drink wine so I had a zero-calorie cola instead, and cola is just never as good, haha...

What time do jazz sets 1 and 2 start?

After finishing our meal, we watched the performance. That day's show was centered around a pianist joined by other musicians haha. It felt great to watch a live show and enjoy delicious food at the same time after a while! Let me share the performance times too.

• Set 1: 19:30 - 20:10 (40 minutes)
• Set 2: 20:25 - 21:05 (40 minutes)

Since the sets are split like this, it's worth keeping in mind when you plan your visit.

Is Allegro worth a visit?

This was my first visit to Allegro near Songpanaru Station, and the food was delicious with live jazz on top, making for a really unique dining experience. The mushroom cream potato gnocchi especially was so good I'm still thinking about it haha. The atmosphere was modern and being able to watch the performance up close makes it a great spot for a date or special occasion :)
