Arriving 30 minutes early for the seat dead center at the stage

While looking for somewhere to celebrate a friend's birthday, I found Allegro, where you can enjoy great food and a jazz performance together haha. I wanted somewhere a bit more special than just a regular meal, and this felt exactly like what I was looking for. We arrived around 7pm to catch the 7:30 show.

The moment you walk in, the black-and-white interior really catches your eye. Clean and sophisticated, and with jazz music layered on top, the whole place felt properly upscale.✨️

Thanks to getting there early, we snagged the seat dead center right in front of the stage!! Lol. It really felt like a front-row view, and I was already excited before the show even started. When you search for pasta places in Bangi-dong, this spot stands out for its variety of pasta and gnocchi dishes, but this time we went a different route and ordered polpo, mushroom cream potato gnocchi, and seafood salad.

One dish per person, drinks optional, ordering by tablet

Ordering is done via tablet, and while Allegro requires one menu item per person, alcohol isn't mandatory. I really liked that lol. It's not a place where you feel like you have to drink wine, so it's easy to come just for a meal — but ironically, once I heard it wasn't required, I suddenly wanted a glass, so I ordered a glass of red wine haha.

The glass wine was ₩12,000 — not a sweet style, but the flavor was excellent and paired really well with the food. The bottle price was better than I expected too, so I already decided that next time I come with a wine-loving friend, it's a bottle for sure!! Lol

Seafood salad, ₩20,000: a bright first plate

First came bread and wine, followed shortly by the seafood salad — bright and fresh from the very first bite. Both the vegetables and seafood were so fresh I felt like I could eat this every morning lol. We kept eating it while saying, 'this is definitely a dish that won't make you gain weight.'

What does Allegro's ₩34,000 polpo taste like?

This was my first time trying polpo, and I gasped at how it looked the moment it arrived lol. It might be one of the most memorable-looking dishes I've had all year — chewy braised octopus served with a red sauce and a smooth cream-based sauce.

The red sauce wasn't aggressively spicy, more like a subtle gochugaru (red pepper flake) flavor added on top, so it wasn't overwhelming at all. Dipping the chewy polpo generously into the smooth sauce — ah, this is proper fine dining haha. The portion was bigger than expected too, so it'd be great to share if you're visiting with a group.

A full hall even on Sunday, and the 7:30pm set begins

While we were taking photos and tasting our way through the dishes, the musicians suddenly stepped onto the stage. The moment the show started, I felt weirdly cultured lol. Looking back, the tables were almost completely full by then. Seeing that many guests even on a Sunday evening, it seemed like plenty of people come specifically to enjoy the performance along with the meal haha.

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi, ₩24,000: mild, nutty cream

I'm something of a gnocchi collector, so the mushroom cream potato gnocchi was non-negotiable lol. Allegro's gnocchi leaned light and savory rather than artificially sweet cream. The chewy gnocchi paired well with the cream sauce, and the portion was more generous than expected — very satisfying! Allegro also has a wide variety of pasta dishes, so for anyone searching for a Jamsil Western restaurant to try several pastas and gnocchi together, there are plenty of options here.

Live charge and how long the jazz set runs

Allegro's jazz performance starts every day at 7:30pm except on regular closing days; the live charge is ₩10,000 on weekdays and ₩15,000 on Fridays and Saturdays. The show ran about 40 minutes. At first I sat still and avoided eating, worried about making noise lol, but after a while I relaxed and enjoyed the show while eating quietly. The singer performed effortlessly, with a voice clear as a songbird, and the show quality was much better than I expected 🎵🎶 Getting to eat great food while listening to live music gave the place a clearly different charm from your typical Songpa restaurant. It'd also make for a pretty special evening as a couple.😜

The birthday dessert: tiramisu-style cake and crème brûlée

The real highlight of the day! Since we came for my friend's birthday, I'd booked the birthday event in advance haha. Out came a tiramisu-style cake and a soft crème brûlée, finished with a 'Happy Birthday' chocolate lettering — much prettier than I expected. What started as a birthday for my friend briefly turned into full-on proposal energy lol.

With Lotte World Tower visible off to the side and live jazz playing in front of us, the atmosphere that night was everything. Compared to an ordinary birthday dinner that's just about the food, enjoying a performance alongside it made it feel like a much more special memory :D Allegro also has terrace seating, so on a nice day it'd be great to dine while looking out at Lotte World Tower. I already want to come back for a date around Christmas or year-end when I want to soak up the mood lol.

Is Allegro worth a Sunday night in Songpa?

For anyone searching for pasta in Bangi-dong or a good-atmosphere Western restaurant in Jamsil who wants more than just a meal, Allegro is a solid pick. The polpo, gnocchi, and seafood salad were all satisfying on their own, but adding the live performance and atmosphere made the whole night much more memorable.
