Garak-dong beef intestine restaurant, 9 teams ahead at 7 PM: Jinseong
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship is a hanwoo beef intestine grill restaurant in Garak-dong, Songpa, Seoul, about five minutes on foot from Garak Market Station Exit 4. Arriving at 7 PM meant 9 teams ahead and a 30-minute wait, then one serving each of hanwoo gopchang (19,000 won), daechang (19,000 won) and makchang (20,000 won) with anchovy noodles, plus three house-made kimchi and a pickled minari garlic sauce on the side. Turnover was fast enough to make the wait worth it, and missing the kkakdugi fried rice was the only regret — a 100% return visit.

Today I visited Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) restaurant famous in Garak-dong!

- Parking: available
- Service: group-friendly

Hours are 12:00–23:00, with last order at 22:00.
How long is the wait at 7 PM?
I visited Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, well known as a gopchang restaurant in Garak-dong, and sure enough the waiting board was nearly full of names. You just write your name and party size in an empty slot — it was around 7PM and the list filled up right behind us so fast, which was pretty impressive.

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is about a 5-minute walk from Garak Market Station Exit 4, so it's easy to reach by public transit. Free parking for 2 hours is available too, so driving there is a good option as well!
While waiting, I noticed traces of award stories and TV appearances around the place! I thought, popular places really do have a reason to be popular. There were about 9 teams ahead of us, but the seats were packed in tightly so turnover was fast, and we got in after about 30 minutes.

Three house-made kimchi and the pickled minari garlic sauce
Once we sat down where we were shown, kimchi came out first — three kinds of house-made kimchi: mustard leaf kimchi, chonggak (young radish) kimchi, and green onion kimchi. With so much variety, it was nice pairing each one with the gopchang.

They actually sell this green onion kimchi separately, and apparently a lot of people buy it to take home?? I thought it'd be great in ramyeon or wrapped around grilled meat, but since my family makes our own kimchi at home, I didn't buy any.

They also gave us minari (water dropwort)-garlic sauce and seasoned chives, and this was seriously the best part!! The minari's refreshing flavor really cut through the greasiness of the gopchang. Plus it was packed with garlic and cheongyang chili, so it was quite spicy in a good way. We mixed in the seasoned chives too, haha.

What we ordered at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang and what it cost
- Hanwoo gopchang, 1 serving (₩19,000)
- Hanwoo daechang, 1 serving (₩19,000)
- Hanwoo makchang, 1 serving (₩20,000)
- Anchovy noodles (₩6,000)
- Zero-sugar cola (₩2,000)

Checking the country-of-origin labels, everything was domestic hanwoo beef..? I was surprised the price was so reasonable given that. Aside from the teukyang (premium cut), the rice, kimchi and everything else was domestic too, which made it feel trustworthy.

Complimentary steamed egg and the anchovy noodles
The complimentary steamed egg came out along with the anchovy noodles we ordered. The steamed egg was fluffy and easy to keep spooning up, and the anchovy noodles were seasoned just right! The fried tofu topping was tasty, but the egg topping was especially good. It was also fine cooled down and eaten cold later!

How the gopchang, daechang and makchang tasted
The gopchang we ordered finally arrived, and even with just one serving each, the portion was substantial!! Potato, rice cake, bean sprouts and chives were laid underneath too.

They also handed out a little info card like this, which made me even more confident in the quality, haha. The staff grill and cut the gopchang for you, so we just waited comfortably before digging in.

The makchang wasn't chewy at all and had a great bite, and the gopchang was packed full of gop (fatty filling) — so good 🤤. The daechang was tasty too but quite fatty, so we dipped it in the minari-garlic sauce lol.

The minari sauce is refillable, so just ask for more freely!
What we missed and the final verdict on Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang
If I'd had more room, we would've ordered the kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice too, but we were too full — such a shame 🥹. My repeat-visit intention is 100%, so next time I'll definitely order it!
Overall, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, a gopchang restaurant well-known in Garak-dong, was great for being able to pair quality gopchang, daechang and makchang with house-made kimchi and minari sauce. Above all, the place was packed when we visited, and I could see why it's known as a top gopchang spot in Garak-dong.
Gopchang always tastes better eaten with sides like kimchi, chives, and bean sprouts rather than just the meat alone, and this place has all of that well put together, so we enjoyed many different combinations. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a gopchang restaurant near Garak Market Station, or if you want to try gopchang, daechang and makchang all together!
