Korean BBQ near Naksan Beach in Yangyang: fresh ribs at Yeoyejeong
In short
Yeoyejeong is a charcoal barbecue restaurant on Ssangsolbaegi-gil in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon, a short drive from Naksan Beach. Arriving late after a day at the beach, the writer waited about 15 minutes, then ordered fresh ribs for two and pork belly for one, and remembers the coffee-wood binchotan charcoal aroma and a first taste of caipira lettuce wraps. Yeoyejeong is worth the trip in Yangyang when you want ribs you pick up by the bone.

Last weekend I finally took a trip to Yangyang again!! 😆🌊 After playing hard at Naksan Beach, I suddenly craved meat like crazy haha. So I headed to Yeoyejeong, a restaurant near Naksan Beach that's famous among locals!
How far is Yeoyejeong from Naksan Beach, and how long is the wait?
Yeoyejeong is a meat restaurant on Ssangsolbaegi-gil in Seo-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon. Following the pumpkin leaves along the road, we arrived at Yeoyejeong — and even though it was already pretty late, the parking lot was packed with cars!!
We waited about 15 minutes too before getting a table. But you know what they say — good things come to those who wait!! Hahaha
Once we got inside, it was bustling with people as expected!

Yeoyejeong's size, 24-person group room and pickup service
The restaurant was really spacious. And they said there's a private room that fits 24 or more people!
It seemed like a great spot for family gatherings, work dinners, or group get-togethers 👍 Plus they said pickup is available, which would make it even more convenient for a group visit!

What we ordered at Yeoyejeong: fresh ribs for two, pork belly for one
Okay, now for the most important part — the menu!! 🤣 Yeoyejeong had fresh (unmarinated) ribs! So without any hesitation we ordered fresh ribs for two + pork belly for one 🥩
Marinated ribs are easy to find, but fresh ribs are actually rarer than you'd think, right? So with the mindset of really digging in after a while, we ordered right away haha. And they said the marinated ribs here are also different from other places — hand-butchered ribs! Hearing that made me think I definitely need to try the marinated ribs next time 👍

Yeoyejeong's side dishes and house-made white kimchi
The side dishes came out first, but unfortunately, since we visited so late, some of the ingredients had run out and a few dishes couldn't be served ㅜㅜ The owner apologized, but... no, it's not your fault... I should have come earlier... 😂
Still, the side dishes that pair well with meat all came out, which was satisfying! The house-made white kimchi (baek-kimchi) was especially delicious. Eating a piece of meat with white kimchi on top was such a great combo haha. At a meat restaurant, if the kimchi is good, isn't the game basically won? 🤣
And then finally the meat arrived, and it looked so fresh just from looking at it! 🤤
Coffee-wood binchotan charcoal at Yeoyejeong: little smoke, little popping
One thing I especially loved about Yeoyejeong was that they use coffee-wood binchotan charcoal!

Usually when grilling meat, fat drips and flames flare up, with charcoal popping around, right? But here there was very little popping, and even when fat dripped, the flames didn't shoot up, so it seemed like you could eat more comfortably even with kids around! Also, maybe because the charcoal absorbs the oil, there wasn't much smoke or strong meat smell, so the indoor air stayed really pleasant — I really liked that too 👍
Now for the real deal — eating the meat — wow, the juices burst out and the coffee-wood charcoal aroma was infused perfectly, so delicious!! 🤤🔥

It had been a while since I had fresh ribs, and there's just something about gripping the bone and pulling the meat off, right? Haha. The meat itself was delicious, and with the charcoal aroma added, it was truly tasty!

Fresh ribs wrapped in caipira lettuce
And at Yeoyejeong, they gave us cairpira lettuce instead of regular lettuce. I tried it for the first time — it was much more tender than regular lettuce, with a soft texture kind of like iceberg lettuce, and it went really well with the meat.
Piling a piece of meat with white kimchi, garlic, and ssamjang (spicy dipping paste) onto the cairpira lettuce and wrapping it all up — ah... I really wanted a drink right then 🍻 hahaha. But since I had to drive, I held back ㅜㅜ Next time, I definitely want to come back on a day I can drink near where we're staying 😂

And the king oyster mushrooms grilled alongside were surprisingly delicious too! With a bit of meat fat and charcoal aroma soaked in, they were chewy and really tasty haha. I ate the mushrooms as diligently as the meat!

Yeoyejeong's prize draw for writing a review
After eating well, there was even a draw you could do by writing a review here! Haha

Eating delicious meat and then doing a draw at the end added a bit of extra fun 😆

If you're visiting Yangyang, playing hard at Naksan Beach, and craving proper charcoal-grilled meat nearby, I think Yeoyejeong is worth a visit!

If you're craving meat in Yangyang, especially if you're looking for a good restaurant near Naksan Beach or one that can accommodate groups, I recommend Yeoyejeong, a great meat restaurant in Yangyang!! 🥩🔥😆 They also sell on Smartstore apparently ☺️
