Why we chose Barirus, a large bakery café in Paju, for a weekend lunch with our child

While looking for a large café in Paju, we ended up visiting Barirus with our kid. The spacious 2nd and 3rd floors had a wide variety of brunch and dining options as well as handmade bakery items produced daily. Even at weekend lunchtime the tables felt spacious, so we sat by a green, plant-filled window and spent a long, relaxed time with our kid over coffee and bread.

So here's our review of Barirus, the large Paju café we enjoyed at a relaxed pace with our kid :-) ❤️❤️❤️

Since we'd already had lunch, we ordered bread for the kid along with an americano and a choco latte, and even got a taste of the review cookie. Barirus isn't just a coffee café — with such a wide range of meal options, it seems like a great spot to visit a bit earlier and start with brunch instead. ❤️❤️❤️

01. Barirus location, parking and opening hours in Paju-eup

The address is 245 Bongseosan-ro, 2F, Paju-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea (Bongam-ri 3-1, Paju-eup). 📍It's 10 minutes from Wollleung IC or Sandan IC on the Paju-Munsan Expressway, 10 minutes from Naepo IC, Nakha IC, or Dangdong IC on Jayu-ro, and 20 minutes via the Seoul Ring Expressway or the Second Ring Expressway (under 30 minutes from Namyangju or Uijeongbu). It's also 20 minutes from both Paju Shinsegae Premium Outlets and Paju Lotte Premium Outlets.

• Hours: 10:00–21:00 (Fri, Sat, Sun and holidays until 2:00am the next day)

Apparently it stays open until 2am on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, which sounds perfect for a leisurely late-night coffee after a weekend drive.

02. Is Barirus a comfortable café to sit with a child?

Barirus spans a wide space across the 2nd and 3rd floors, with a variety of tables and sofa seats set up.

Thanks to the large plants and greenery-filled interior, the space felt fresh and pleasant, and sitting by the window was a comfortable way to spend relaxed time with our kid.

There's also an outdoor lawn terrace and a tent space, which I'd love to try on a nice-weather day. I imagine it would be especially healing on a cool autumn day with a breeze. ❤️❤️❤️

03. The Barirus menu, from brunch plates to bakery breads

Barirus offers quite a wide selection, from brunch and dining dishes to pasta, salads, and bakery items, making it an easy place to drop by.

We'd already had lunch, but the bakery had so many kinds — croissants, salt bread, red bean bread, scones, palmier-curry bread, cookies, cakes, and more — that we had to really hold back while choosing 🤤🤤🤤 It's a great place to enjoy coffee and bread lightly, or to have a full brunch or meal, making it a solid pick to recommend as a Paju brunch café too.

04. How the cook salami panini and choco baguette tasted

The cook salami panini our kid picked had a surprisingly good balance of salty salami and sweet cheese, while the choco baguette, thickly coated in chocolate with plenty of chocolate chips inside, delivered a rich, deep chocolate flavor that was still light and not overly heavy — really delicious. Our best pick of the day ❤️

The americano paired well with the bread, and the choco latte was quite sweet — we enjoyed every sip to the last drop.

Is Barirus in Paju worth a visit with kids?

If you're looking for a spacious, relaxed café in Paju-eup, Barirus is a solid choice. With parking for about 300 cars and a variety of seating, it was easy to visit with our kid, and the wide brunch and bakery menu makes it a great fit for days when just coffee and bread wouldn't feel like enough. We sat by a green, plant-filled window and spent relaxed time eating and playing with our kid. On a nice-weather day, trying out the tent space could offer a whole different vibe.
