Ganghan Sushi, a great spot for dining solo in Buldang-dong
This weekend, I’ve been leisurely enjoying some time on my own! After going to the library, I was craving sushi sooo badly, so I came to Ganghan Sushi (강한초밥)! I really found a proper sushi gem in Buldang-dong, didn’t I(?)

They’re open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 21:30. They used to be closed on Mondays, but now they’re open Mondays too! Takeout and delivery are available, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
Every time I go to Buldang-dong, I spend ages wondering whether to go because of parking, but Ganghan Sushi has underground parking down to B2 and it’s seriously spacious, so you can come without a worry haha!!! They even support 3 hours of free parking (●ˇ∀ˇ●) And there are, like, four elevators in the building(?), so I could hop straight on without waiting. I think it would be really convenient for wheelchair users too!

Before heading in, I gave the menu board a quick but thorough read.

It had been a while since I’d dined alone, so I was a little fluttery ˋ( ° ▽、° ) But they were very welcoming to solo diners, so I happily went in.
The place wasn’t huge, but it could seat around 16 to 20 people! More than anything, it was so clean that it instantly put me in a good mood haha.

It was so spotless that there wasn’t a speck of dust in the utensil holder! They had high chairs, extra chairs, and aprons, plus pickled ginger and rakkyo (pickled scallions) at every table, so I loved not having to get up and go to a separate self-service bar.

You order through the table-order system, and it was super convenient to finish payment in one go too haha. Their ₩500 receipt event is such a good deal, so everyone should definitely do it! I got a Sprite, and sushi was even included among the event prizes!

Omakase sushi with cold soba and shrimp tempura
After I’d finished studying the menu, these gorgeous sushi pieces came out in no time ლ(╹◡╹ლ) It was such lovely weekend weather, and since I was on my own, I ordered the omakase sushi to make the occasion feel special! It turned into such a memorable meal—like I was being treated to something truly generous ✨
You know I’ve been obsessed with cold buckwheat noodles lately,,, so I paid a little extra to switch the mini udon to cold soba!!!!! I thought I’d get a mini cold soba (⊙o⊙)? But a full side portion came out instead??! I’d even ordered shrimp tempura too—this was a complete party, I’m telling you.

It just looked so pretty, and I was so happy that I kept taking photos before eating, soaking up my happy weekend moment 💖

This is the croquette fritter that comes as a basic side, but isn’t it unfair for a complimentary fritter to be this crisp and delicious?! There was a bed of shredded cabbage salad underneath, and the combination was beyond amazing. The owner really knows what they’re doing 👍

I had a bite of the shrimp tempura first before it cooled down, and its crispness was genuinely on another level 🍤 A place where even the sauce is delicious 🧡

Omakase sushi topped with thick-cut fish
I got my sushi feast off to a proper start with extra-large Wando flounder, flounder belly, and engawa (flounder fin) sushi! I was shocked all over again by the thickness of the fish on top of the rice (•ˋ _ ˊ•) They say they use only superior-grade salmon, and it genuinely melted in my mouth!

This is 200 kg honmaguro (bluefin tuna) sushi. The tuna on top of the rice was so thick that I peeled it back from the rice just to show you haha. Can you see how thick it isㅠㅠ(?) Ondo, who loves thick-cut fish, is crying. Crying 🥹🥹
There was uni (sea urchin roe) on top of three amaebi (sweet shrimp), and I decided from today that I’m in love ❤ That amaebi + uni combination! The soy-marinated shrimp sushi used house-made shrimp aged in soy sauce for 24 hours, so it wasn’t salty; it had just the gentle, delicious flavor of soy-marinated shrimp.

When you dip the cooked abalone sushi in abalone innards sauce, it tastes like you have the whole ocean—would that be the way to put it(?) Then I had ankimo (monkfish liver) gunkan sushi, known as the foie gras of the sea, and suddenly the ocean was in my stomach 🌊🌊💦💙
(Being pulled out to sea Zzz)

These are gamtae (seaweed) sushi wrapped around yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), and freshwater eel sushi! Even I, someone who doesn’t usually like yukhoe, took one bite and fell for how it melted in my mouth!!!!!
Every now and then, I had a bite of the buckwheat soba with little bits of ice floating in it, and it was so cool and delicious 😂 Adding pickled ginger to the soba made it pungent yet refreshing, and even though I was full, I just kept eating it!

It was only an extra ₩5,000 to change the mini udon option to buckwheat soba! If two people come and order 12 pieces of sushi each, I think it would be so nice to switch one set to include the extra soba option ✨

Packing leftovers and registering parking yourself
The incredibly kind staff neatly packed up my leftovers for me 🛍️ and even packed fresh sauce separately! When I got home, I heated it in the air fryer and enjoyed it properly!

You can register your parking yourself on the way out, which was so convenient because you don’t have to go on and on reciting your car number 👍🏻 They really provide free parking for up to 3 hours, and it felt like the best service!! If you’re in Buldang-dong, you have to go to Ganghan Sushi. I think I’ll be back soon with the Ondo crew. For. Sure.
