Lunch sushi in Gwanghwamun at Elephant Sushi Gwanghwamun
Looking for a place to eat sushi near Gwanghwamun, I ended up at Elephant Sushi. I like sushi in general, and I was after a spot where I could try a bunch of different kinds in one sitting, so I gave this place a shot.

Where is Elephant Sushi? In the KT West basement
Elephant Sushi is located in the basement of the KT West building!!!

This time we ordered two Elephant Sushi B sets. The set wasn't limited to just one or two kinds of sushi — it came with monkfish liver, abalone, salmon, tuna, futomaki, and more, so it was fun to try a little of everything one piece at a time.
🍣 What comes in the Elephant Sushi B set?
The B set was made up of a nice variety of sushi. What stuck with me most were the monkfish liver, abalone, salmon, tuna, and the futomaki (thick seaweed roll)!

Usually when I go to a sushi place I end up ordering familiar things like salmon or tuna, but ordering a set like this let me try ingredients I don't usually eat. The monkfish liver was soft with a deep, rich flavor — a real treat. Abalone as sushi felt different too, in a good way. Salmon and tuna were so familiar they were easy to enjoy without thinking twice.

What I liked most was that futomaki was included in the set. It was a fairly hefty size for one bite, so you could taste a bunch of different ingredients at once. With two of us ordering two B sets, we could take our time and enjoy one of each kind.
🥗 From the starter salad to soup and somyeon noodles

Elephant Sushi doesn't just serve sushi — a starter salad comes out first, and soup and somyeon (thin wheat noodles) were served alongside the sushi too. Midway through eating sushi you start craving something warm and brothy, so having soup on hand was nice, and being able to add somyeon on top made the meal feel more substantial than expected. Having side dishes alongside the sushi rather than just sushi on its own made it feel like a proper lunch.
🥔 Write a review, get a potato croquette

And through a review event, we also got a potato croquette. Eating it right away while it was still warm made it taste great. Crispy on the outside and soft potato on the inside, it was nice to eat one like a dessert after the sushi. I usually don't expect much from review-event food, but this one came out surprisingly warm and I enjoyed it. 😊
📍 Elephant Sushi, a solid lunch by Gwanghwamun Station

Overall, Elephant Sushi seems like a great fit for anyone who wants to try several kinds of sushi at once. With a lineup this varied — monkfish liver, abalone, salmon, tuna, futomaki — it's a good option if you'd rather enjoy a convenient set than pick out each item individually.
With a starter salad, soup, and somyeon noodles, plus a warm potato croquette from the review event, it ended up being a pretty filling lunch. If you're looking for a sushi lunch spot in Gwanghwamun or a good restaurant near Gwanghwamun Station, this one's worth considering. It's the kind of place I'll think of again whenever I want to try a lot of different sushi at once. 🍣
