Sushi course for two near Pusan National University: Moshi Moshi

In short

Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is a sushi and Japanese restaurant on Geumgang-ro, right in front of the main gate of Pusan National University in Geumjeong, Busan. Two diners ordered the B-course for two plus one house-made plum ade, and the dishes arrived in order: sashimi, six pieces of sushi, Korean beef yukhoe (raw seasoned beef) and eel, a steamed dish, char siu, tempura and cold soba. The seasoning at Moshi Moshi PNU Branch stayed light while the portions were generous enough that the final soba felt like one bite too many — a good-quality course overall.

Ordering the B-course for two and a house-made plum ade

We ordered the B-course for two! It's said you can taste a wide variety of Moshi Moshi's dishes! What's different from the A-course is that the types of sashimi and sushi change, and a steamed dish is added :)

A glass of house-made plum ade at Moshi Moshi PNU Branch

We also ordered a house-made plum ade :) You stir it from the bottom before drinking! It really tasted like homemade plum extract! With lemon added for extra freshness, it went perfectly with the food the whole meal haha.

How the table is set

Sashimi soy sauce and a bowl, paper laid on the table, and a water cup, wet wipes and utensils are all set at your seat :)

B-course, dish 1: sashimi and six pieces of sushi

Plate of flounder, salmon and tuna sashimi served as the first B-course dish

First, the sashimi comes out! Flounder / salmon / flounder with radish sprouts / lemon, wasabi / seared tuna (tataki) / tuna belly / salmon / soy-marinated shrimp — that's the lineup 🌿

Tofu salad (sesame dressing) / aged kimchi / cabbage salad, broth / seaweed, sesame oil sauce / sashimi soy sauce come out together too.

I ate it with lemon squeezed on top :) I'd recommend wrapping the tuna belly in seaweed! All the sashimi cuts were thick and chewy and delicious, but the soy-marinated shrimp was totally firm and chewy — really good!!

While we were eating the sashimi, the sushi arrived! Six pieces total: flounder fin / salmon / tuna belly / raw shrimp / squid / egg!

The squid had chives tucked inside and was scored really nicely! Personally, the flounder fin and the squid were my favorites!

B-course, dish 2: Korean beef yukhoe and eel

Plate of Korean beef yukhoe, octopus wasabi, and seasoned grilled eel

Next up: Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef), octopus wasabi, and grilled seasoned eel!

The beef yukhoe has a gochujang (red chili paste) base! It's soft, well-thawed yukhoe rather than the icy frozen kind ✨ The flavor isn't overpowering either!! The octopus wasabi is totally crunchy and delicious! The eel isn't overly salty and is seasoned just right! Not a single small bone in it, either!!

B-course, dish 3: the steamed dish the A-course doesn't include

Next comes the steamed dish! Steam was still rising off it! It's got squid / beef / shiitake mushroom / shrimp / bean sprouts inside!

The best way to eat it: shrimp with seaweed, shiitake with sesame oil sauce, and the beef just on its own for the meaty flavor haha.

B-course, dish 4: char siu

Char siu! Eating it with pickled ginger and onion together gives it a herbal-medicine kind of feel! The fat layer melted away in my mouth, and the lean meat was tender with zero dryness!

B-course, dish 5: tempura

Assortment of shrimp tempura, sweet pumpkin, eggplant tempura, and potato croquette

Tempura! Shrimp tempura, sweet pumpkin tempura, eggplant tempura, and a potato croquette — you dip them in the tempura soy sauce provided!

This is really well-made tempura... it has that feel of famous tempura restaurants in Japan!! Wasa-crunchy!

B-course, dish 6: cold soba

Cold soba served as the final dish of the B-course

Cold soba! The noodles were completely chewy and springy, and the broth wasn't salty, so it was easy on the stomach!

The course portions were seriously huge, so by the time I got to the soba at the end, I felt like I was about to burst 🫠 Overall the seasoning wasn't heavy, but the flavors themselves were excellent — so good!!

Is the B-course at Moshi Moshi PNU Branch worth it?

Great value near PNU thanks to the excellent set compositions, and the courses are high quality too! I'd recommend this all-around great sushi restaurant, Moshi Moshi PNU Branch 🌿
