A day of eating alone in Daehak-ro. After a lot of deliberating over what to eat, I wanted something light this time, so I headed to Sallering Daehak-ro.

I didn't want to just phone it in because I was eating alone, but I also didn't want anything too heavy for lunch. A salad or poke bowl seemed about right — but once I saw the menu, there were so many options I had to think it over again haha. In the end I picked the Meat All-in-One with green juice, and for the salad dressing I went with my favorite, the spicy Sallering bibim sauce.
Meat All-in-One, my pick for a solo lunch
When I go to salad places, I tend to pick the option with meat rather than the all-vegetable one. It's still lunch, after all, and a salad alone can feel a bit empty.

The Meat All-in-One let me eat meat and vegetables together, which was just right for eating alone that day. One plate came piled high with vegetables and meat, looking pretty substantial. I originally thought of it as just a bowl of salad, but eating it, it was more filling than I expected.

That day especially, I had to be out and about again in the afternoon, so a dish like this suited me better than a heavy lunch.
The sauce has to be the Sallering bibim sauce
My favorite combination that day was the Sallering bibim sauce. Oriental or balsamic-style dressings are the usual salad go-tos, but I was craving something spicy, so I chose the bibim sauce (spicy mixed sauce). Instead of tossing everything together at once, I mixed it in little by little, and the crunchy vegetables with the spicy sauce went together better than I expected.

It was especially good eaten together with the meat. Vegetables alone are plain, but once the bibim sauce goes in, the flavor really comes alive, and with the meat too, it stopped feeling like just a salad and more like a proper spicy mixed meal. Honestly, this style suited my taste better.
Salads can get boring after a few bites just because they're the 'healthy' option, but that day, thanks to the spicy bibim sauce, I enjoyed it all the way to the end. If I go back, I'll pick this sauce again without a second thought.
Rounded off with a green juice
For my drink I picked the green juice. Since I had the Meat All-in-One with spicy bibim sauce, I wanted something clean to drink alongside. Set next to the salad, it looked all green and fresh, and for a solo lunch, it felt like I'd actually eaten properly haha.

Best of all, I didn't feel too heavy afterward. Daehak-ro has plenty of tempting options like pork cutlet, pasta, or meat, but none of that appealed to me that day. At the same time, I didn't want to just grab something quick from a convenience store or café. That's when a salad with meat in it turns out to be pretty good.
An easy spot for a solo lunch in Daehak-ro
When eating alone, the taste matters, but so does whether you can sit and eat comfortably by yourself. That day, eating solo, I didn't feel self-conscious at all. Order, get your food, eat at your own pace, and leave — no pressure at all for a solo meal.

This kind of restaurant feels especially convenient on a day spent alone in Daehak-ro — whether you came to see a show by yourself or need lunch after running errands nearby. If you're like me, someone who finds a plain salad unsatisfying but heavier food too much, the Meat All-in-One should suit you well. Eating meat and vegetables together made it feel like a proper meal, not a lacking one.
Sallering Daehak-ro: this combo comes recommended
I went in for a solo meal and came out more satisfied than expected at Sallering Daehak-ro. Meat All-in-One + Sallering bibim sauce + green juice — this combination really hit the spot that day. Pairing the Meat All-in-One with the spicy bibim sauce especially meant I could eat without that usual plain, boring salad feeling.

If you're looking for a solo lunch spot in Daehak-ro and thinking 'should I get a salad, but what if I get hungry after?' — try the meat option. After trying it that day, I think I'll come back to this place next time I need a solo lunch in Daehak-ro. And for salad, spicy bibim sauce really is the way to go. This combination was pretty great. 😊
