Took my parents out to Yun Sikdang, a genuine hidden gem I found in Masan! It's a Korean set meal (hanjeongsik) place that serves a full spread — generous but clean and tidy at the same time, so there were a lot of families around 💜

How long is the weekend noon wait at Yun Sikdang?

Got there around noon on a weekend and the wait was already in full swing. I was worried tables would turn slowly since it's a set meal place, but the food comes out fast and the pace moves quickly, so the line shrinks fast (no CatchTable app or anything though — you write your name down and wait to be called). It's in Bukmasan Furniture Street, so parking is easy if you use the Bukmasan Furniture Street public parking lot!

There are set hours for parking on the road in front of the restaurant. Normal lunch and dinner hours are fine, but outside those hours it's enforced, so check the time before you park.

This Masan set meal favorite runs on a handwritten waitlist. No app — just write your name and wait to be called. So you need to stay near the entrance or you'll miss your turn. There were about 7-8 groups ahead of me, but the wait cleared faster than expected — maybe 20 minutes total? On weekends, go expecting a wait unless you do an opening run.

The inside is surprisingly spacious with lots of tables, which probably explains the fast turnover. The tables are laid out neatly without feeling cluttered, which felt comfortable haha. Since this Masan set meal spot piles on the banchan, the big tables meant we could eat comfortably.

At Yun Sikdang in Masan, your order goes in automatically the moment you sit down. There's only one menu — the grilled bulgogi set! Orders are placed by headcount, so you can't change seats after sitting. Aside from the basic banchan, cooking starts right when you order, so they warn it can take a bit of time — but since it's a single menu with a predictable order volume, the main dishes came out fast and we didn't wait long 😋

Every table has water and cups set up, and things like aprons, utensils, tissues, and wet wipes are stocked for you to grab yourself.

There's an extra charge for refills on the main dishes, but every other basic banchan not listed on the menu is free to refill! Anyone elementary-school age or older must order their own menu (though everyone in our group was an adult haha — given the menu, most people seemed to bring their parents).

A generous spread for the price — meat, fish, kimchi pancake, seasoned squid, seasoned raw crab, braised abalone... so many main dishes it's hard to list them all. A happily busy meal trying everything 🥰

Free side dish refills: we topped up every single one

The basic banchan (side dishes) — true to a good Masan Korean restaurant, even the basics were all winners. Japchae (glass noodles), mung bean sprout salad, mul kimchi (water kimchi), steamed egg, eggplant salad, stir-fried anchovies, macaroni salad, kimchi — every single one had real skill behind it, everything tasted great! Extra seasoned raw crab is 4 pieces for ₩4,000 if you want more.

The japchae was moist and tender like it was just made, and the mung bean sprout salad had such good umami I kept reaching for more 🤤 (the baechu kimchi was Chinese-made cabbage, a bit disappointing, but everything else was so good it didn't matter at all). The mul kimchi was perfectly fermented, impossible not to refill. The seasoned raw crab had an unusual touch of sancho (Sichuan pepper) powder — sweet sauce up front, then that addictive peppery aroma! Honestly you could finish a whole bowl of rice on the banchan alone... and we really did refill every single one at least once haha.

The leafy greens for wraps are refillable too, of course.

The main event: grilled bulgogi over charcoal

The main of the main, grilled bulgogi 😋 The portion is so generous just looking at it feels satisfying...

Grilled on a charcoal grill rack, it's fully coated in that distinct smoky char flavor. The added depth makes you go mmm without meaning to haha. Scoop a spoonful of rice and pile it on top and this is exactly what a Korean table is supposed to taste like. The seasoning is just right, perfectly balanced — something everyone, young or old, can eat plenty of without complaint.

Two kinds of grilled fish and the kimchi pancake

Mackerel and rockfish(?), two kinds of grilled fish. Freshly grilled, so it's warm with that moist texture still intact. The outside seems lightly fried, giving it a nice crisp-outside-tender-inside contrast. I don't eat grilled fish much at home, so getting well-rounded nutrition here at this Masan set meal favorite felt good haha.

The kimchi pancake isn't just there for show either — it's a proper, textbook kimchi pancake. Right thickness, right crispness, plenty of kimchi in it — the real deal! The tangy flavor is great for waking up your appetite, so I ate a lot of it. With so many dishes, my chopsticks were genuinely busy at this Masan set meal favorite 😋

Soy-marinated abalone and seasoned squid salad

Even braised abalone... a true land-and-sea Masan spread. Came out as 3 pieces per person, and it's not too salty, easy to eat in one bite. Definitely a chef with skilled hands behind this 🤤🤤

The seasoned squid salad is also a basic banchan, and the seasoning is a bit strong so this amount felt like plenty on its own — but it's free to refill too. Especially good wrapped in perilla leaves, where the perilla aroma blends in for a flavor that'll get you arrested for stealing rice haha.

The doenjang jjigae with crab was the best dish at Yun Sikdang

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was seriously, seriously delicious.... Everything was good but this was truly the best of the best! With crab in it, it has this clean, deep flavor. There's a slight spicy kick too, so it'd probably work well as a hangover cure. Naturally, I scraped the broth clean, no leftovers.

Since the leafy greens are refillable, I kept wrapping and eating — and even loading that much grilled bulgogi in, the pile never seemed to shrink, so I just kept adding more(?)
