Today I want to introduce a neighborhood favorite my family truly loves. When we first moved to this area in 2021, this place, Achasan Tong Galbitang (아차산통갈비탕), had just opened, and we tried it out!
Even back then, only a short time after opening, it was packed with customers — that's what stuck in my memory. We visited again today (Tuesday) around 6pm, and it was still buzzing with people! Clearly there's a reason it keeps earning the love of locals.
This time we went with our 25-month-old, who kept saying "Yummy~" throughout the meal, which made for a really satisfying and proud dinner! For anyone looking for a place to eat out with a baby, or just craving a hearty soup, here's everything from location to parking, menu, and taste review~
Where is Achasan Tong Galbitang, and when is it open?
Achasan Tong Galbitang is located at 306 Jayang-ro, 1st floor, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, near Achasan Station. It's open every day, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:00. Takeout is available for the entire menu, with rice, seokbakji (radish kimchi), and glass noodles included as standard, and the restaurant has a self-service rice refill corner.
There's even a dedicated waitlist board at the entrance, since a line forms during peak hours. Make sure to check the break time (15:30–17:00) before you visit!

Where to park near Achasan Tong Galbitang
Achasan Tong Galbitang doesn't have its own parking lot, but there's a paid lot directly across the street. It costs ₩900 per 30 minutes, and cars can enter until 5:50pm. Parking is probably the biggest concern when visiting a restaurant near Achasan Station, so here's some useful info to keep in mind before you go.
- No dedicated lot: the restaurant itself has no parking lot of its own.
- No parking at nearby villas: parking is strictly forbidden at nearby villas (like Nakyeong Town) — please be careful!
- Use the paid lot across the street: parking costs ₩900 per 30 minutes, entry until 5:50pm.
If you're driving, using the paid lot across the street or taking public transportation instead will make your visit much easier.

What's on the menu, and what does it cost?
As soon as you walk in, the wall catches your eye with a detailed write-up of how the galbitang is made, along with the menu board. The restaurant apparently drains blood from 120kg of ribs daily for 12 hours, then spends over 6 hours removing fat and trimming the meat. With that much effort going in, it's no wonder the broth has such deep flavor.

The main galbitang lineup
- Special galbitang (기력회복 특갈비탕): ₩18,000
- King galbitang (원기회복 왕갈비탕): ₩16,000
- Meat-packed shank galbitang (고기듬뿍 아롱사태 갈비탕): ₩19,000
- Spicy king galbitang (얼큰 왕갈비탕): ₩17,000
- Braised beef short ribs (억소리나는 소갈비찜): small ₩48,000 / medium ₩56,000 / large ₩72,000

Another appealing detail: with one order per person, you get unlimited rice refills at the self-service corner~ It's a great setup for filling up on a hearty meal.
Honest review: special galbitang vs king galbitang
Today we ordered one special galbitang and one king galbitang.

Not long after we ordered, steaming, rich galbitang arrived~ With big, whole rib bones piled generously in the bowl, it was the kind of visual that makes you smile just looking at it.
1. Deep, rich broth and fall-off-the-bone beef
The meat on the rib bones was so tender that it separated from the bone the moment scissors touched it. The broth was deep and clean without being overly seasoned — truly excellent. There was no gamey smell at all, so you could enjoy it without any hesitation.
2. Mild enough for a 25-month-old
When visiting with a child, the biggest worry is always whether the food will suit their taste. But since the meat was so tender and the broth wasn't overly seasoned, I mixed rice into the broth and shredded the meat into small pieces, and our 25-month-old ate it up beautifully!
Chewing away the whole time and saying "Yummy~", I thought, I'm so glad we brought her along haha. I'd highly recommend this as a family-friendly restaurant near Achasan Station!
3. House-made kkakdugi with Korean radish

One of the most important things at a galbitang restaurant is the kimchi! This place makes its own kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) in-house, using all domestic ingredients, including the carrots and radishes, so you can eat with peace of mind. Topping a spoonful of galbitang with a big piece of well-fermented seokbakji cuts through any richness perfectly — it's a flawless pairing~
Takeout at Achasan Tong Galbitang: what you get and what it costs
Achasan Tong Galbitang offers takeout for its entire menu, with a dedicated fridge for takeout orders set up near the entrance. For takeout, rice is sold separately, but seokbakji and glass noodles come included.
- Takeout includes: full menu available, rice sold separately / seokbakji and glass noodles included as standard
- Extras: extra rice or seokbakji ₩1,000, extra glass noodles ₩2,000
It would be a great option to grab takeout when you're feeling run down, or to bring as a gift for your parents!

With tender meat and rich broth, it's a restaurant that everyone can enjoy without complaint, from young kids to grandparents. If you're near Achasan looking for a hearty Korean restaurant to visit with your child, give this place a try!
