Sinnonhyeon terrace café: Earl Grey canelé bites, Upper and Under

Upper and Under, a big terrace café between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station. Recommending this dessert spot and bakery café in the Sinnonhyeon/Gangnam area — known for tiramisu cake and matcha latte, with financiers and madeleines too.

Personally I think this is the prettiest dessert café with a terrace in Gangnam Station~ Upper and Under~

What is on the dessert display at Upper and Under?

The window side has desserts laid out so beautifully. My favorite canelé is there, plus madeleines and financiers and lots of bite-sized baked treats, so it's easy to stop by after a meal without any pressure.

I love canelé so I ordered one, and it was seriously so good haha. The outside had crisp, buttery flavor that was no joke, and the inside was moist — so delicious~~^^ There was also a dessert called flan, but it kept selling out.

Why the Earl Grey grapefruit cake won out over the other fruit cakes

The fridge is full of fruit cakes — fig cake, lemon cake — but I love Earl Grey so I ordered the Earl Grey grapefruit cake. The grapefruit on top looked plump and generously piled on, so it looked really delicious.

Matcha cream oat latte review: Upper and Under's cream lattes

The drink menu is also really varied. This place's specialty is the cream latte. I debated between the matcha cream oat latte and matcha pistachio, and ended up ordering the matcha cream oat latte — totally amazing, so good haha.

I usually don't love sweet drinks, but this wasn't too sweet, and the oat latte and matcha cream went so well together — genuinely delicious hahaha.

What the 2nd-floor terrace feels like

Going up to the 2nd floor, the terrace is this pretty. Tall trees peek in, so it feels like having coffee on a terrace in the middle of a forest.

How does the Earl Grey grapefruit cake taste?

A meal in Gangnam Station followed by tasty dessert and coffee~~~ The Earl Grey grapefruit cake had a really fragrant Earl Grey aroma, and the cake itself was moist and soft. The whipped cream also had Earl Grey flavor melted into it, so delicious, and best of all the grapefruit was plump — the fruit flesh was so juicy, really tasty haha.

Bite-sized desserts: Earl Grey canelé and chocolate financier stick

For bite-sized desserts I ordered the Earl Grey canelé and chocolate financier stick. The Earl Grey canelé is genuinely delicious. The outside is crisp with an explosion of buttery flavor, and the inside is moist and soft with Earl Grey flavor hahaha.

And the highly anticipated matcha cream oat latte. The best part is it's not too sweet, and the matcha flavor is strong. I completely inhaled it.

With such a lovely terrace atmosphere and delicious desserts, Upper and Under is a great dessert café near Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam stations. They also have yangze ganlu cake, tiramisu, and einspänner, and I'd recommend it for Gangnam dessert gift boxes too.
