Sinnonhyeon outdoor terrace café with fig cake: Upper and Under

You know that feeling on a nice day when you just want to drink coffee outside ☁️ I was looking for a café around Sinnonhyeon and Upper and Under looked like it had such a great vibe, so I went to check it out.

How many floors does Upper and Under use?

Upper and Under uses the entire building — 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors — so the seating felt really spacious! Seems like a good spot for group visits too 🤍 And with a coffee to take a quick break, it'd also work well as a Sinnonhyeon date spot ☁️

The interior is clean too, but what I especially loved was the outdoor seating! The weather's been so nice lately 🥹🥹 it was genuinely healing

What the 2nd- and 3rd-floor outdoor seats feel like

This is the 2nd floor outdoor seating haha. Upper and Under also has outdoor seats on the 3rd floor! And there's a lot of seats too 🫶

On a nice day, sitting outside and having coffee at a leisurely pace felt so good. The sunlight came in just right and the breeze was gentle — pure healing 🫧

Salty caramel cream latte and pistachio cream latte

Upper and Under has way too many good things 🤭 that day I ordered a bunch of stuff, from coffee to dessert.

The sweet cream latte gets a salty kick from the salty caramel, so it was a nice sweet-and-salty combo. Not just plain sweet — you get that slightly salty note too, which went well with dessert 🤭

I also ordered the pistachio cream latte, which pistachio lovers would really enjoy! Super nutty and toasty

Nutty pistachio flavor topped with smooth cream, so it was easy to drink and sweet. And of course, dessert can't be skipped 🎀

How the fig cake and salted chocolate financier taste

Upper and Under's fig cake had figs on top so it looked gorgeous, and it went well with the coffee. The cake... was insane. I really hate overly sweet cake, but this had a really delicious milk cream kind of feel...? 🤍🤍🤍 There was that gentle, subtle sweetness unique to figs, so it wasn't too heavy and was easy to enjoy as a dessert.

I also had the salted chocolate financier together, and personally I love this kind of sweet-and-salty dessert so I enjoyed it a lot. Chewy and crisp on the outside, with the chocolate's sweetness balanced by the salt's saltiness — perfect with coffee 🍫 crisp the moment you bite in... crunch

Overall, with a wide variety of coffee and desserts to enjoy together, this was a great spot to stop by when looking for a café in Sinnonhyeon.

Why Upper and Under works as a big Sinnonhyeon café

Upper and Under's interior is clean and comfortable overall, so it was easy to stay a while. There's a good variety of drinks and desserts to pick from depending on your taste, and there are plenty of pretty spots for photos, so it was a great place to relax and chat with a friend.

Especially on nice-weather days, the outdoor seats are the absolute best 🤍 On days like this when it feels like a waste to stay indoors, Upper and Under lets you sit outside and spend time leisurely with a cup of coffee.

If you're looking for a good-vibe café, a big café, or a café with outdoor seating near Sinnonhyeon Station, I recommend Upper and Under 🪽 Visiting on a nice-weather day would make it even better! Above all, on a nice day the outdoor seats are truly, truly the best
