Yeoksam Chinese lunch with potato old-style jjajang: Jjamppong Jijon
In short
Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building on Teheran-ro 10-gil near Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul, with more jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) options than jjajangmyeon. The rice-noodle jjamppong at 13,000 won, ordered at the mildest of the spice levels, came loaded with scallops and other seafood, and it was shared with small crispy sweet and sour pork at 20,000 won and old-style jjajang at 9,500 won full of big potato chunks. A self-serve bar with free rice, side dishes and yuja tea makes Jjamppong Jijon a lunch spot worth going back to.

What the terrace and interior are like

Heading up to the 2nd floor, there's a spacious outdoor terrace.

The interior is huge and clean too. With so many tables, it looks great for work dinners or group gatherings.
Free rice, side dishes and yuja tea at the self-serve bar

There's a self-serve bar in the center of the restaurant with onion, danmuji, jjachai, and kimchi — plus free rice. Small plates, tongs, scissors, kids' spoons and even hair ties were also there, which was convenient.

And you can get yuja tea and blue lemonade for free too!!! Perfect for dessert.
Jjamppong Jijon menu and what we ordered

Jjamppong Jijon has a wide variety of Chinese restaurant dishes, and true to its name, it has more jjamppong varieties than jjajangmyeon.

We ordered small crispy sweet and sour pork (₩20,000), rice-noodle jjamppong (₩13,000), jjajang (₩9,500), and Pepsi Zero Lime (₩3,000).
The side dishes that come with every order

Soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, and chili powder are on the table, and they bring water and danmuji.

On top of that, you can grab as much danmuji, onion, jjachai, and kkakdugi as you want from the self-serve bar.
Crispy sweet and sour pork (small), 20,000 won

I ordered the crispy sweet and sour pork, and just looking at it, the color from clearly clean frying oil got my hopes up.

The batter shattered light and crispy while staying chewy, and the meat inside had zero gamey smell — just delicious and tender.

The sauce was sweet and tangy, exactly right, and the batter was savory and delicious — I was genuinely moved!
It feels like the textbook version of crispy sweet and sour pork, so if you love this dish, you have to try it.
Rice-noodle jjamppong, 13,000 won: how spicy is the mildest level?

I'd never had rice-noodle jjamppong before, so seeing it on the menu made me curious and I ordered it right away. I chose the mildest spice level, but even that was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, so if you're spice-sensitive, definitely order the mildest level!

The broth is rich yet refreshing, making it light enough for lunch but also perfect for a hangover cure.

It's loaded with seafood and vegetables, especially scallops — there were so many that they kept turning up no matter how much I ate haha.
Besides scallops, there's pork, squid, wood ear mushroom, zucchini, carrot, and mung bean sprouts, so there's plenty to pick through and enjoy.

Best of all, the noodles are rice noodles, so it felt light rather than heavy — totally my taste. This was my first time trying rice-noodle jjamppong, and on its own it's enough to call this place a Yeoksam favorite.
Jjajang, 9,500 won: old-style sauce with big potato chunks

The jjajang was packed with meat and big chunks of potato — a delicious old-style jjajang flavor!

These days I actually prefer this kind of old-style jjajang with the savory sweetness of potato over the modern version, so I was moved while eating it.

There was plenty of sauce too, which made it even better! It soaked into the noodles nicely, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Is Jjamppong Jijon worth it for lunch near Yeoksam Station?
A place I want to go back to for the rice-noodle jjamppong at lunch!
The restaurant is spacious, so it works well for work dinners, lunch, or eating solo. Everything on the menu was delicious overall, but the rice-noodle jjamppong especially stood out, so I plan to go back for lunch again.
I love both jjamppong and rice noodles, and this dish combines the best of both, so it's saved in my mind as my go-to Yeoksam lunch spot! Definitely planning to go back!!!
