Yangju bakery café in a converted bathhouse with palm trees: Doasis

What kind of café is Doasis?

Located in Deokjeong-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, Doasis is one of the hottest large-scale cafés in Yangju right now. Three friends and I went together, and the scale alone was overwhelming — it felt even bigger and more spacious in person than in the photos I'd seen beforehand.

What makes Doasis special is that this building used to be Yangju Spa World, a bathhouse familiar to local residents. That building was remodeled into this massive bakery café of about 2,000 pyeong. So as you walk around the café, you can still spot traces of the old cold and hot baths worked into the interior design, which makes exploring the space that much more fun.

Location, hours and parking at Doasis

Doasis is located at 25-5 Hwahap-ro 1402beon-gil, 2nd-3rd floor, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, about a 500-meter walk from Exit 1 of Deokjeong Station. The main café floor (2nd floor) runs from 10am to 11pm, with last order at 10pm (the 3rd floor café closes at 9pm, last order 8:55pm).

Worth noting: after 9pm, only the 2nd floor, which has the drink pickup counter, stays open. The dedicated parking lot fits 140 cars, which is a big plus since you don't have to worry about parking when you visit.

Inside the old bathhouse: palm trees flown in from Jeju

The biggest draw of Doasis is its landscaping. These aren't fake plants — real palm trees brought over from Jeju Island fill the entire café, giving off an exotic vibe like being in a botanical garden or an overseas resort. Sunlight pours straight in through the ceiling's floor-to-ceiling windows, so visiting during the daytime feels even brighter and more refreshing.

With regular tables, tiered platform seating, and sofa zones all available, the space can accommodate everything from small groups of 3-4 to large group gatherings, which is one reason it stands out even among Yangju's large cafés. When we visited, we noticed plenty of group parties around us too.

What we ordered: pandoro, cream squid-ink crunch and more

For bakery items we picked camembert cheese nurungji (crispy rice bread), pain de gor, cream squid-ink crunch, walnut black sesame bread, and mint cookie, and for drinks we ordered an Americano, cool mint, and a vanilla latte. Doasis's signature and most popular item is apparently the pain de gor, but personally, I thought the cream squid-ink crunch was really delicious. The crunchiness of the squid-ink crunch paired so well with the soft cream that I'm planning to order it again next time.

With around 50 kinds of bakery items and brunch options like pizza and pasta also available, this is a place where you can get a full meal, not just a cup of coffee.

It was fascinating that what used to be a bathhouse got a second life as such a spacious, stylish large café, and above all, the wide parking lot and comfortable space made it a place I'd genuinely recommend for group gatherings.
