A Dongpyeon-maeul brunch favorite, my café recommendation: Notten. 80 Dongpyeon-ro 183beon-gil, 1st floor, Dongan-gu, Anyang-si.

With the cool morning and evening breezes now, outdoor terrace cafés feel even more atmospheric. Notten's outdoor terrace is open, and dogs are welcome there.

What does Notten's jamón plate taste like, wheat bread and rye bread?

Notten's wheat bread & jamón plate is the Dongpyeon-maeul brunch café's signature, bestseller, and steady seller all in one. It's a jamón plate made with 100% Korean wheat bread plus added house-made jamón.

It's a brunch baked fresh daily from 100% Korean wheat and rye — the bread is clean-tasting, the inside soft, the outside crisp, with a nutty texture that's really delicious.

There's a soft-boiled-style egg too, the house-made jamón isn't salty, and the cheese (probably havarti) is also clean and just a touch salty without a strong smell, pairing well with the bread.

Hazelnut butter and seasonal peach jam at Notten

They served it with hazelnut butter and peach jam, and wow... the butter is an absolute flavor explosion ❤️ The house-made jam seems to change with the season's fruit. Right now it's peach jam, and unlike store-bought jam it's not overly sweet or artificial-tasting — soft and mildly sweet, pairing beautifully with the bread.

The rye bread is savory and densely chewy. It's got lots of nuts in it so it's great to chew, and eating it with jamón, havarti cheese, and hazelnut butter gives you that raised-eyebrow moment of truth.

The wheat bread has plenty of air pockets, so the inside is light, soft, and moist. The outside is crispy and covered in sesame seeds, super nutty. The inside and outside textures are completely different, and that contrast is the best part.

Loading the wheat bread up with house-made jam and hazelnut butter — this is real brunch!

Mixing and matching the plate's various ingredients however you like, it's consistently delicious every time.

The Americano can be chosen acidic, nutty, or decaf, and comes with a standard double shot.

Notten's seating, outlets and baby chairs

This is the interior of Notten, the bakery café in Dongpyeon-maeul near Indeogwon. Lots of people were enjoying brunch, so I snapped photos whenever a spot cleared up — there are about 8 to 10 movable two-person tables in the store. When groups of four or larger come, they push several tables together.

By the front window wall there's a U-shaped table. There are outlets underneath, so it seems good for working on a laptop too.

There are plates and cutlery at the self-serve bar, and there's also a bar table in front of the counter.

Baby chairs are available, so this café seems to work well whether you're enjoying brunch solo, coming with kids, or hanging out with friends. And the outdoor seats allow pets too^^

This is Notten in Dongpyeon-maeul, with its lush garden view. It's 5 minutes by car from Indeogwon Station, located on the Dongpyeon-maeul café street facing Gwanak Elementary School.

There are a few parking spots behind the store, and street parking also seemed possible.
