Homemade sundae set at Sinjuokmi, a sundaeguk restaurant in Gangdong
In short
Sinjuokmi Gildong Direct Branch is a 24-hour sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) and hangover soup restaurant a 3-minute walk from Gildong Station on Line 5 in Gangdong, Seoul. On a weekend evening the writer ordered haejangsulguk (hangover soup) and the sundae set with hwangtae-hoemuchim (spicy dried pollack salad), added self-serve somyeon noodles to the soup, and also mixed the pollack salad through the noodles. Rich broth and homemade sundae with no gamey smell make Sinjuokmi a solid spot for a meal and drinks in one stop.

Blue Ribbon-listed Gildong favorite: sundae gukbap at Sinjuokmi near Gildong Station

Where is Sinjuokmi Gildong Direct Branch, and when is it open?
Address: 102, 1459 Yangjae-daero, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, Sinjuokmi Gildong Branch About 3 minutes on foot from Exits 1 and 2 of Gildong Station on Line 5 Hours: open 24 hours

I was craving something hot and soupy over the weekend, so I headed to this 24-hour hangover soup spot in Gildong, Sinjuokmi's Gildong Station branch. When you're looking for somewhere to eat around Gangdong or Gildong, you end up looking for good sundaeguk or hangover soup places a lot, and this time Sinjuokmi's broth was genuinely deep and the menu lineup was great, so I left satisfied.
It's easy to get to since it's right near Gildong Station, and during meal times the crowd ranged from solo diners to families to people stopping by for a drink in the evening. The inside of Sinjuokmi was kept clean too, so I could eat comfortably.

What we ordered at Sinjuokmi: haejangsulguk and the pollack salad sundae set
This time I ordered haejangsulguk (hangover soup) and the pollack salad sundae set. Just hearing the names got me excited, since it's a combo that covers both a drinking snack and a full meal at once — perfect for this cooler season when you start craving a hot bowl of soup!
If you want a filling meal plus a great drinking snack, this Gildong Station sundaeguk favorite, Sinjuokmi's Gildong Station branch, is pretty great. They really do have a huge variety of sundaeguk dishes~!

True to a 24-hour Gildong hangover soup restaurant, hutgae (hovenia) tea is provided free, and kimchi and side dishes are self-serve refill!

How is the haejangsulguk broth at Sinjuokmi?
The haejangsulguk came out first, generously packed with big chunks of meat and offal — this was my first time trying sulguk, so I was curious!

I tried the broth first, and it was really refreshing. Rich but not heavy or murky — a clean flavor that also works well as a hangover cure the day after drinking.

What made this haejangsulguk especially appealing was how much sundae, offal, and meat were packed in. This is really what you'd expect from a 24-hour Gildong hangover soup specialist.
Above all, I felt it would be great for a casual lunch or dinner near Gildong Station too. One spoonful of the broth and I got it — "so this is why people come for haejangsulguk."

So much meat packed in too — really touching. The rich broth of the haejangsulguk is addictive.
At Sinjuokmi, not just the sundae but all the offal meats were tasty too, so it's something anyone can enjoy without hesitation.

Homemade sundae set with salted shrimp
Midway through, I felt like I wanted a bit more, so I additionally ordered the pollack salad and sundae set — there's no more perfect combo than this!

The sundae set I ordered alongside was also satisfying — probably because the sundae is homemade, it had a clean flavor with no gamey smell, impressive enough that I was sad to see it disappear, it was all so good.

It's especially good topped with salted shrimp. Eating it together with the hot haejangsulguk made for a really great combination.
Adding self-serve somyeon noodles to the soup
While refilling, I noticed there was somyeon noodles, so I grabbed some — you can't leave out noodles with this haejangsulguk~~ Twirling somyeon into the hot broth made it more filling, and the kkakdugi (radish kimchi) that came with it paired really well with the sundaeguk too.

Thanks to the texture and clean flavor of the somyeon, I got to soothe my stomach with the rich broth while also enjoying it noodle-style, so I enjoyed it doubly ✌️

Hwangtae-hoemuchim mixed with somyeon noodles: the standout dish
And among the dishes that came with the sundae set, the one I personally found most memorable was the hwangtae hoemuchim (spicy dressed pollack salad).

A tastier way to eat it is to mix it together with the somyeon noodles, which balances out what could otherwise feel a bit rich — a great tip!! Really delicious.

The pollack, tossed in a sweet and tangy sauce, was chewy yet tender, and the spicy kick really woke up my appetite!
If you're looking for a good sundaeguk or sulguk place near Gildong Station, Sinjuokmi's Gildong Station branch is worth a visit. With rich haejangsulguk, a hearty sundae set, and tangy-spicy hwangtae hoemuchim, it was a 24-hour Gildong hangover soup restaurant that satisfied both a meal and a drinking session-!
