I wanted to eat meat with my mom on a weekday lunch, so we went to Jugeokjip!

We went together, and once we got inside, it was clear this place works just as well for a light meal for two as it does for a bigger group — it's honestly a great spot for company dinners in Pyeongtaek too. Looking through reviews before visiting, a lot of people mentioned coming here for family meals, group gatherings, or work dinners. It really seems to suit all kinds of get-togethers!

Parking at Jugeokjip: a Pyeongtaek BBQ restaurant with space out front

Parking is always the biggest worry when going to a BBQ place, right? Especially with family, since you usually drive — and no matter how good the food is, it's hard to want to go back if parking is a nightmare.

Jugeokjip Pyeongtaek Branch has plenty of parking space right in front, and it's registered as a restaurant with parking available, which makes things really convenient.

Right from the entrance, it had that unmistakable 'this place is good' vibe — there was even a sign right at the door.

Inside Jugeokjip: a big BBQ hall far roomier than it looks

I was surprised at how much bigger the inside of Jugeokjip Pyeongtaek Branch was than it looked from the street! It looked spacious in blog photos too, but the ceilings are high and there's a separate section further inside.

It had that spacious, airy, large-scale BBQ restaurant feel. I thought it would be great for family meals or eating with a bigger group. The high ceiling kept it from feeling cramped, and the tables were spaced generously, which I liked.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Jugeokjip

A variety of side dishes come out — japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), salad, soft tofu, savory pancakes, and more. There's a separate self-serve bar where you can grab whatever sides you need, and if something isn't out there, you can just ask the staff!

I love it when there are lots of side dishes to go with meat. Switching between pickles and vegetables makes every bite that much better.

Jugeokjip's Naver reservation event explained

If you make a Naver reservation and fill out a receipt, you can get either bibnaengmyeon (cold noodles) or doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), and unlimited free soju on top! (If you like to drink, this is basically a jackpot event.)

We asked for the doenjang-jjigae. Doenjang stew with pork belly and rice — how good can that get?~~~~~~~~ (My mom said the doenjang-jjigae was delicious.)

What we ordered: two servings of charcoal-grilled fresh black pork belly

We ordered 2 servings of the charcoal-grilled fresh black pork belly. The meat quality was good and had no gamey smell at all, which made it delicious.

The pork belly was nice and thick, with a good balance of fat and lean meat, so it had a satisfying chew — meat is just always delicious, isn't it!

What does Jugeokjip's signature jugeokssal taste like?

Jugeokssal is meat off the bone, grilled with plenty of garlic and carefully tended with a rice paddle (jugeok), apparently — that's where the name comes from. I got to try a bit of it too.

I didn't get a full plate, just a small taste, but it was so good. As soon as my mom tried it, she said it was exactly my kind of meat style, jmt (so delicious),,,💚 One bite in and I immediately thought, 'Next time I need to properly order this.'

They were also selling gift sets ahead of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).
