Dog-friendly outdoor brunch, truffle kimchi fried rice: Que Sera

In short

Que Sera is a brunch and wine café in Samjeon-dong, Songpa, Seoul, near Seokchon Lake. Visiting on a cool autumn day with her husband, the writer tried the truffle BLT open sandwich plate and Que Sera's truffle kimchi fried rice, and found the spacious outdoor seating next to the store looked relaxed enough for dog-friendly visits. With a one-chef kitchen, food takes a bit of time, but the truffle aroma and wood-toned interior made it memorable.

It's gotten quite cool lately — feels like autumn has arrived — so a while back my husband and I went for a relaxed brunch at 'Que Sera,' located in Samjeon-dong near Seokchon Lake. It's a place where you can enjoy brunch, coffee, and even wine, plus there's outdoor seating, making it perfect for this kind of weather. Here's my honest review!

How's the outdoor seating for dogs?

Out front there are small outdoor tables too, styled with wine bottles and fruit decor — the vibe felt pretty aesthetic!

Next to the store there's an even bigger outdoor area than the front, which looked great for relaxing with brunch or wine outside on a nice day. The tables were spaced fairly generously, so it seemed like a decent spot to visit with your dog too haha

Wood-toned interior and window seats with folding doors

The inside is done up in wood tones, giving off a warm, calm atmosphere overall.

One wall is a floor-to-ceiling window, so sunlight streams in nicely during the day, and the indoor seating was more spacious than I expected.

The window side has folding doors like this, so it was nice to sit while looking out at the view outside. On a nice day, opening the doors would probably give you that outdoor, open-air feeling too.

The wood tones blended with the greenery for a cozy atmosphere, and it seemed like a pretty spot for photos too 😀

Coffee and wine too — how the self-serve bar works

Along with the coffee machine, they had a range of wines ready. It's a brunch café, but since you can enjoy wine as well as coffee, it seemed like a good place for brunch during the day and a casual glass of wine in the evening!

Self-serve bar with water and small plates

There was a self-serve bar on one side with water and small plates, and after eating you just bring your used dishes to the return counter yourself. On one wall hung a certificate from Le Nôtre, the French culinary school, which got me even more excited for the brunch menu 😆

The kitchen is open, so you can watch the food being made right in front of you. Since it's run by a single chef, food can take a while to come out during busy hours, so I'd recommend visiting with some time to spare.

Two brunch plates topped with avocado and poached egg

Both dishes were topped with avocado and poached egg, so the plating alone looked delicious, and the truffle aroma added made each dish feel even more special.

Truffle BLT open sandwich plate

We started with the truffle BLT open sandwich plate. The bread was piled generously with BLT ingredients, poached egg, and avocado, and the creamy sauce with a subtle truffle aroma gave it quite a rich flavor. Fries and ketchup came alongside too, so the single plate was pretty filling.

BLT open sandwich served pre-cut into two pieces

The sandwich came pre-cut into two pieces, which made it easy for my husband and me to split. It also had carrot rapée inside, adding a crunchy texture, and eating the avocado, poached egg, and bacon together in one bite made for a great combination of ingredients.

Popping the poached egg and eating it with the avocado was soft and nutty.

Que Sera truffle kimchi fried rice

Next was the Que Sera truffle kimchi fried rice (bokkeumbap). Avocado and poached egg were layered on top of the kimchi fried rice, with crunchy toppings added, so the plating was quite generous too.

Popping the poached egg and mixing it in softened the spicy kick of the kimchi fried rice, and with the subtle truffle aroma spreading through, it felt like a different experience from a typical kimchi fried rice.

Honest verdict

Since it's run by a single chef, you may have to wait a bit for the food, but with its aesthetic wood-toned space and spacious outdoor seating where you can enjoy truffle-scented brunch and wine, it was a decent Jamsil brunch café for a date by Seokchon Lake or for visiting with your dog 🫧🌿
