Cheonan jjukkumi lunch set for three, no waiting: Bulnaneun Jjukkumi
In short
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Main Branch is a fire-grilled jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried webfoot octopus) restaurant on Handeul 2-ro in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan. Arriving at 11:30am meant walking straight in with no wait, and the lunch set brought three servings of jjukkumi stir-fry with fried shrimp and pot rice, plus banchan and chilled cucumber soup taken from the self-serve bar. The jjukkumi was plump and tender, but single servings are not sold and a minimum of two people is required, so solo diners should look elsewhere.

Do you like jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried webfoot octopus)??

Where Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Main Branch is, and where to park
With the mindset of "whatever it is, you go to the main branch~", I visited the [Bulnaneun Jjukkumi] Main Branch today! It's in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan! Parking was easy since there's a lot right in front of the store!

Arriving at 11:30am: no wait and what the restaurant looks like
The name itself sounds spicy! I arrived around 11:30am and there was no waiting to get in! (I went early, and after that customers kept streaming in)
The tables were spaced far apart, so it was easy to move around, go to the bathroom, or grab banchan. Also great for chatting while eating~ haha

How to order the lunch set at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi
We visited for lunch so we ordered the lunch set menu! Jjukkumi + fried shrimp + pot rice! Each table had an ordering tablet, and you pay on your way out!

There were spoons and wet wipes in the drawer next to the table.

Banchan and chilled cucumber soup
After ordering, they brought out banchan (side dishes) and cucumber cold soup. You can eat the banchan as-is, but save some to mix in with the jjukkumi stir-fry later!

They also gave us a bowl for the cucumber cold soup and a bowl for making bibimbap! The cucumber cold soup was refreshing and well-seasoned — delicious! (A match made in heaven with the spicy jjukkumi)

Fried shrimp first: two pieces per person
Ta-da! While we waited — since the pot rice takes a bit of time — they brought out the fried shrimp first. Two per person! The shrimp were bigger and plumper than expected, looking so appetizing~ warm and crispy (careful, it's hot~)

They're well-seasoned even on their own, but dipping them in the mayo sauce they provide made for a great appetizer to whet the appetite!

Fire-grilled jjukkumi stir-fry for three, with pot rice
Just as we were finishing the shrimp, the jjukkumi stir-fry showed up!! This is for three people! The octopus pieces were plump and it smelled amazing — probably because it's fire-grilled!

The pot rice came out too! They scoop the rice into a bibimbap bowl separately, then pour barley tea into the pot and close the lid.

Like this! Pouring in the water~ giving us barley tea was such a nice touch.

How did the jjukkumi bibimbap taste?
Before we knew it, the full spread was ready! Time to eat!!
I put rice in the bibimbap bowl and piled the jjukkumi on top! So plump.
After adding all the banchan, bibimbap vegetables, and jjukkumi, let's mix it all up!!!
The jjukkumi here is so plump and tender! Honestly, since the pieces weren't small, I expected them to be chewy, but they're incredibly soft. Whoever's timing the cooking has real skill!! I kept being surprised by how tender it was as I ate.

Not because I got a discount this time — I genuinely think this is the best jjukkumi place I've had in Cheonan.
The fire-grilled aroma came through evenly, the jjukkumi was tender, the portion wasn't small, and you can adjust the spice level! And also—

Refilling banchan at the self-serve bar
There's a self-serve bar in the center of the store, so you can freely get more of any banchan you're low on, bibimbap ingredients, or that delicious cucumber cold soup.

Going up close, I found banchan I hadn't noticed before, too — soft tofu, radish green kimchi, and more!

After the fried shrimp, bibimbap, jjukkumi, and even scorched rice water, my stomach was completely full...!!
I didn't even realize it was so close to home, but once I got here I could tell it's already a local favorite — customers kept coming in nonstop. Maybe because there's pot rice, or because the jjukkumi is so tender, there were a lot of older customers there! Surprising for a spicy dish!!

One drawback: no single-serving orders
They have a baby chair, and the staff were super kind. There wasn't much to complain about!! Maybe the only minor thing is that there's a mosaic wall in the middle, so I didn't notice the self-serve bar right away.
Oh right! You can't order just one serving here. It's a strict minimum of two people... that was a bit disappointing. If two people go, you have to pick the same dish and same flavor, and solo dining just isn't possible!

So happy to have discovered another great restaurant! Hope this helps, enjoy a delicious meal~!! (Cheonan Love Card accepted!)
