Baekseok-dong lunch spot in Cheonan: whole-tripe kalguksu, Yukdaejang
In short
Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is a traditional yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), bossam (boiled pork wraps) and jeongol (hot pot) restaurant on Handeul 2-ro in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam. On a lunch visit with a baby, the order was seolleongtang (milky ox bone soup), gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu (spicy beef and tripe noodle soup) packed with whole, uncut tripe, and eonyang bulgogi, and the seolleongtang broth came out deep and rich. With its own parking lot, plenty of baby chairs and Onnuri gift certificate payment, Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch makes an easy meal out with a small child.

Is there parking at Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch?
Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch has a spacious dedicated parking lot right in front, so you can head in without any parking stress. Today I visited with my baby to eat seolleongtang and gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu at this Baekseok-dong, Cheonan restaurant ~ since there's a big lot in front, we got to visit Yukdaejang comfortably without worrying about parking. There are plenty of other restaurants besides Yukdaejang too, and because parking is so easy around here, I think that's why I end up visiting restaurants in this area often.

The Yukdaejang storefront in Baekseok-dong, and why we chose it
Yukdaejang specializes in traditional yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), bossam, and jeongol dishes, but I went specifically looking to eat seolleongtang and gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu, so I searched the menu first before visiting. I'd once had gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu with a friend on a trip to Dongtan and the memory of how delicious it was kept coming back to me, so I looked around and figured a specialty restaurant like Yukdaejang would feel more like the real deal, so I went! I'd also heard through the grapevine that it's famous as a hangover-cure spot among office workers in Baekseok-dong and Chaam-dong.

Inside Yukdaejang: room for a stroller and baby chairs
The interior of Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch was quite spacious all the way to the back, and the tables were spaced far enough apart that pushing a stroller in wouldn't bother other tables at all, so it looked like a great place to visit with a baby. Baby chairs were, of course, available too.

What's on the self-serve side dish bar
The basic side dishes were self-serve. At other restaurants, the self-serve bar sometimes has open lids, which isn't great hygiene-wise, but at Yukdaejang's self-serve bar each side dish had its own individual lid, so you could open only the one you needed for a refill — nicely hygienic.

Where Yukdaejang keeps the baby chairs
The baby chairs were kept in generous supply right next to the self-serve bar, so it was easy to grab one yourself and set it up at the table to eat with the baby.

Order by tablet, pay at the counter
Ordering was conveniently done through table ordering — during busy hours you don't need to flag down the owner, you can just order comfortably from the tablet at your table. You order via the tablet and pay at the counter on your way out after eating.

The three side dishes set on the table
Three side dishes came as the default setting: chives, eomuk (fish cake), and seokbakji (diced radish kimchi). All three went really well paired with the seolleongtang and yukgaejang. You can get refills at the self-serve bar, and the seokbakji is seriously delicious.

Ordering seolleongtang, gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu and eonyang bulgogi
I ordered seolleongtang, gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu, and eonyang bulgogi.

How rich is the seolleongtang broth, and how much meat?
Just look at how much meat was in the seolleongtang.

The milky broth seolleongtang had a rich broth, the kind that has you mixing in rice no matter what .. exactly my style. There was a generous amount of meat too, and although the ingredients were just the basics — glass noodles, meat, and green onion — it was satisfying as a full meal. I added lots of water, mixed in rice for the baby, and he ate it up so well .. my son takes after his mom and dad and loves soups and stews, what a champion eater.

Whole, uncut tripe in the gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu
The gopchang yukgaejang kalguksu wasn't the kind of tripe I expected — cut up with all the fat squeezed out — it had really generous whole, uncut tripe in it, and I was so surprised. Tripe like this exists?? Since it's a yukgaejang specialty restaurant, the flavor was very satisfying, delicious, and filling ~
Paying with Onnuri gift certificates at Yukdaejang
Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch also accepts payment with Onnuri gift certificates, which was great for using up an Onnuri amount I'd received as a gift.

If you're looking for a good restaurant in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan, I'd like to recommend Yukdaejang, a yukgaejang specialty restaurant that's great for curing a hangover. Next time I'd like to come back and work my way through the bossam and jeongol menus too — this is a spot I've heard office workers in Baekseok-dong swear by ~
