Daegu fruit cake café for family dessert: Siznique

When you go shopping at a department store, there are places that are hard to simply walk past, right? The beautifully displayed dessert corner in the basement food hall is exactly one of those places.

This time, I picked up a peach cake from Siznique inside Shinsegae Department Store. Even when it is not a special occasion, a pretty Shinsegae Department Store cake puts me in a good mood, so I chose one as a little gift for myself after a long time.

A clean, upscale shop atmosphere

Siznique was easy to find because it is located inside the Shinsegae Department Store cake section. As you would expect from a department-store shop, it had an overall clean, upscale feel that caught my eye even from a distance.

The cakes displayed in the showcase looked like works of art, so it was fun just looking around. The staff were kind, too, and I was able to choose from the menu in a great mood.

I could glimpse the cake-preparation area at the back of the shop, and it seemed to be managed hygienically, which was reassuring. While waiting for my order to be packed, I looked around and noticed quite a few people buying cakes as gifts.

What fruit cakes can you choose from?

Siznique had such a wide variety of fruit-based cakes. The first one to catch my eye was the glowing yellow mango cake.

They were available in sizes from small cakes to whole cakes, so it seemed easy to choose one for the occasion. The generous topping of mango looked sweet enough just to look at.

Seeing mango cascading over the whipped cream made me think I should try that one next time. The fruit looked plump and fresh at a glance, so I felt like any choice would be a safe bet.

The cake piled high with figs also had such an elegant feel. Its distinctive fig cross-sections showed clearly, and I thought it would make a lovely design for a gift for adults, too.

The whole cakes were so pretty that I think the person being celebrated would really love one for an anniversary or birthday.

You could feel the care that had gone into every single one, and I found myself smiling the whole time I looked around.

How did the Floral Peach Cake taste?

At last, let me show you the peach cake I chose in detail. It is called the Floral Peach Cake, a name that already sounds refreshing, and its appearance was truly a work of art.

Thinly sliced peaches were layered like flower petals, making it almost too pretty to eat. I think it has to be among the most striking Shinsegae Department Store cakes visually.

There was also a smaller peach cake size, which was nice for enjoying without too much commitment. The peach pieces on top had a beautiful glossy shine that made it look even more appetizing.

My child could not take their eyes off the cake and loved it, too. It was a perfect dessert to share because the pairing of soft cream and fruit was gentle rather than overpowering, even for a child’s palate. One bite filled my mouth with the peach’s fragrance, followed by the rich nuttiness of the cream. It was not overly sweet, so we could enjoy it deliciously to the very end without getting tired of it. There was fruit to bite into between the sponge layers as well, making the texture satisfying, too.

Fruit cake at home with coffee

Bringing it home and having it with a cup of coffee felt like pure happiness. It was packed carefully, too, so I could bring it home safely without the shape getting disturbed. If you are deciding on a Shinsegae Department Store cake, Siznique’s fruit cakes seem like a great option. Thanks to the refreshing peach cake, I had a lovely dessert time with my family for the first time in a while. It is a place that gets both looks and flavor right, so I am thinking of visiting again when another fruit season comes around.
