Dongchon Resort brunch café with Geumho River views: Hands Coffee

In short

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a café on a hill above Dongchon Resort in Dong-gu, Daegu, with wide views of the Geumho River through its large windows. My husband and I shared the Hands House Brunch Set and a milk cream roll; the portion was satisfying for two adults, though our food took about 20 minutes to arrive at mealtime.

On a weekend morning, my husband and I went to Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점) for brunch. I had visited Dongchon Resort several times before, but this was my first time eating here.

Where is the café, and what was parking like?

The café sits on a hill above Dongchon Resort. Its red-brick exterior stands out, so it was easy to spot even on my first visit.

There is on-site parking in front of the café, so we parked before going in. During my visit, I felt there were quite a few places to park, including nearby.

What are the seats and Geumho River views like on each floor?

The café spans the second through fourth floors, and I looked around the second and third floors. The second floor has the ordering desk and dining space.

The second floor had a calm, brown-toned atmosphere. There was a deer photo spot, tables for four to six, and a long shared table, along with antique items and merchandise to browse.

The third floor had more tables than the second, and being one floor higher, the view was better too. The Geumho River stretched out beyond the large windows.

The third floor also had antique-style items and a range of tables for two to six people. I thought it would work well for a date or for a larger group gathering.

What brunch and desserts can you order?

There was a wide variety of brunch options. The Double Tray Brunch Set was introduced as a menu item available only at this Dongchon Resort branch. I did not try it this time, but I would like to have it next time.

There were several kinds of waffles and bingsu (shaved ice dessert). Beyond coffee, the drinks included smoothies and tea, so there was a broad selection.

At the time of my visit, there was an event offering one Hands cookie for taking part in a Naver receipt review. The café said these were handmade cookies, prepared and baked in-house.

Was the brunch set enough to share between two people?

We ordered the Hands House Brunch Set and a milk cream roll.

Because we visited at mealtime, it took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. The wait felt a little long.

The Hands House Brunch came with freshly baked ciabatta and handmade sausage, along with two clean-tasting long blacks.

The ciabatta was chewy, while the scrambled eggs and potatoes were soft. The savory sausage came with crisp greens. We ate it with ketchup and balsamic sauce.

The portion was more generous than I expected. After sharing the brunch and having coffee, two adults felt pleasantly full.

Did the milk cream roll pair well with coffee?

The milk cream roll was filled with soft cream. To my taste, the cream was sweet without feeling heavy, and it went well with the long black.

Although we waited a little for the food, it was nice to share brunch together while looking out at the Geumho River. The calm brown-toned space and antique items also stayed with me.
