With the holiday coming up and lots of time to spend with the kids haha, our whole family headed out to our go-to beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Daegu to refuel and recharge. We love this place so much it almost hurts to write about all the good things — hands hurt from typing too much haha.

Where is Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch? Location, parking and hours

Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is at 197 Chimsan-nam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, near Chimsan-dong Hwaseong Town. It's right off Sincheon-daero, so it's easy to get to.

Gogi 9dan is the go-to restaurant in Chimsan-dong! As you can see, the place is huge, which is why it's so loved for gatherings. We've eaten here as a family many times and we trust it every single visit.

There aren't separate private rooms, but all the seats are divided with partitions, which gives it a cozy feel.

There's plenty of group seating for 8 to 10 or more people,

and the window seats next to the playroom are popular. You can watch the kids playing in the playroom right from the table, so reassuring! It's our favorite spot too ^,~

The side dish spread, plus half platters of skirt steak and raw short ribs

Here's the basic table setting they bring out after ordering. It's a quality that rivals a hanjeongsik (full-course Korean meal), full spread including japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) and yangnyeom gejang (soy-marinated crab).

We ordered the skirt steak half platter and the raw short rib half platter. The color of the meat is amazing, and the freshness goes without saying! You can order a full platter, or split it half and half.

What's in the ₩18,000 9dan set: beef tartare, jjolmyeon, sushi rice and pork kimchi stew

The real perk of Gogi 9dan, the beef restaurant of Chimsan-dong, is this 9dan set!! It's such an insane deal — for ₩18,000 you get fresh beef tartare, jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), sushi rice, and a huge amount of pork kimchi stew.

Such a generous spread. Ordering half and half was great since we could add more of whichever we liked. The kids love the raw short ribs, and my pick is the skirt steak~

Grilling the skirt steak with help from the serving robot

They grilled the skirt steak first. Freshness needs no explanation, and the marbling is amazing. Grilling it nicely over good charcoal.

With so many side dishes and orders, Gogi 9dan's serving robot is working hard — the kids love it and find it so fascinating haha. And customers appreciate the fast service too!

The raw short ribs the kids loved

This is the raw short rib — the tasty part attached to the rib bone! Our kids love these short ribs. They eat them well because of the chewy, satisfying texture ^,~ The rib quality is really excellent.

It's delicious with the flavorful side dishes like onion soy sauce and green onion kimchi, but honestly the beef itself is so good that everything else is just a supporting role haha.

Beef sushi and spicy jjolmyeon at Gogi 9dan

Piled onto the sushi rice that comes with the 9dan set, it makes an excellent beef sushi. The wasabi is the kicker. It pairs so well with the juicy beef. The spicy jjolmyeon in between is also a perfect match.

A generous pot of pork kimchi stew

This is also included in the 9dan set — pork kimchi stew! The portion is huge. It really feels like the 9dan set holds nothing back — so much variety and so much quantity~

Honestly, this is what I come here for haha. Wow, this pork kimchi stew is amazing. It's the kind of flavor you can't not eat rice with, the kind you keep eating even when you're already full. Pair it with the yangnyeom gejang and two bowls of rice go down easy,,,,,haha

Dessert at Gogi 9dan: patbingsu, plum tea and Americano

Once the meal ends, dessert comes out too — even cool patbingsu (shaved ice dessert)!! Sweet shaved ice is the perfect palate cleanser haha. The kids fought over who gets to eat it,,,haha

But Gogi 9dan's thoughtfulness in Chimsan-dong doesn't stop there! There are cold iced cups with plum tea mix coffee, and even a well-known coffee shop brand's Americano prepared too.
