In short
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a charcoal-grill beef and pork restaurant on Chimsannam-ro in Buk-gu, Daegu. For her husband's birthday the writer ordered a half-and-half platter of anchangsal (skirt steak) and kkotgalbi (flower short rib), 500g in total, plus the 9dan set at 18,000 won, which added yukhoe (raw beef), jjolmyeon noodles, sushi rice and pork kimchi stew, and parked easily on the building's ground floor. Where Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is, and where to park
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a beef and pork specialty grill at 197 Chimsannam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, and since the entire first floor of the building is parking, there's zero worry about finding a spot. We went for my husband's birthday today — and isn't it true that birthdays basically last the whole month? Haha.
For anyone planning around the Chuseok holiday, I think it's worth checking the info below too.
There's also a playroom, so if you're searching for a beef restaurant with a kids' playroom, take note!
Inside the restaurant and the dessert corner
The inside of Gogi 9dan has a ton of tables. They're lined up in rows starting from 4-seaters, so it's great for group visits too — though for large groups, I'd guess they push tables together if you reserve ahead.
The dessert corner right as you walk in makes you promise yourself you'll grab something before you leave, haha. There was coffee and various drinks.

Next to each table there are small plates, extra cups, cutlery, aprons, and wet wipes.
The menu and what comes in the 9dan set

Here's the menu. Beef has to be the star, right? We ordered skirt steak (anchangsal) and flower short rib (kkotgalbi) — since it was his birthday, my husband got to order whatever he wanted.

When you order one platter, you can add the 9-course set for ₩18,000, which comes with raw beef tartare (yukhoe), pork kimchi stew, jjolmyeon noodles, and sushi — enough that if there are three or more of you, 500g of beef plus the 9-course set will leave you completely full.

The table next to us ordered pork too, which made me think I should come back and try that next time!

There's also a lunch special, so keep that in mind.
And birthday guests, pregnant customers, and military personnel can get a free service item! Since we're both total introverts, we didn't actually ask for the birthday freebie, haha.
The side-dish spread and the gejang refill
This is the basic table setting — the kind of hearty, proper Korean side dishes you'd expect, and there's a generous amount of them. Honestly you could eat a whole meal off just the rice and banchan!
There's various salad, green onion kimchi, japchae, and notably seasoned marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang), which you can refill once for free — make sure you ask for a refill. They also sell the side dishes separately, I noticed.
When you ask for a refill, the gejang comes out like this, and if you hand your empty dish to the delivery robot as it passes, cleanup is a breeze :)
Ordering 500g: half skirt steak, half flower short rib

We ordered a half platter of skirt steak and a half platter of flower short rib, 500g total. *Keep in mind the minimum first order is always one platter — but you can split it half-and-half.
The meat looked beautifully marbled, and the charcoal came with such intense heat that I wanted to throw the meat on right away.

And then the 9-course set arrived right away!

It started with mouthwatering raw beef tartare, followed by jjolmyeon noodles, sushi rice, and kimchi stew.
You can start boiling the kimchi stew right away, or if you'd rather eat it after all the meat, just keep it tucked below and boil it later.

How did the anchangsal skirt steak taste?
We grilled the skirt steak first, and it was genuinely so good..!!! It melts tenderly in your mouth. It's not too fatty, but also not overly chewy, so even elderly folks with weaker teeth could totally handle it!

Such a nice touch making beef sushi and yukhoe sushi with the sushi rice!
Next up was the flower short rib, and it was thick enough to basically be a steak~
Finishing with pork kimchi stew and bingsu
After eating our fill, we wrapped up with the kimchi stew.

Since it has garlic and pork in it, it tastes best simmered slowly for a while — so put it on right before you finish the meat!

And then we wrapped things up with the dessert bingsu (shaved ice)!
The glass-walled playroom: why Gogi 9dan works with kids

This Chimsan-dong beef grill restaurant also has a playroom, so it's great for bringing kids along. One side of the playroom has floor-to-ceiling glass, so you can check on your child right away while they play — exactly what you want when dining out with kids!
If you're looking for a good beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, I recommend Gogi 9dan!
