A great spot for a full Korean meal in Beomeo-dong

Banwoldang Buja Sikdang Suseong Branch is a great place to visit when you are looking for Korean food. There are only two locations: the main branch near Banwoldang Station and this Suseong Branch by Beomeo Covered Road. It is especially well suited to anyone who loves a complete Korean spread of rice, stew, and banchan (side dishes). 🚗 Parking at the public street-side lot right in front of Banwoldang Buja Sikdang Suseong Branch comes with one hour of parking support, which makes visiting convenient.

The interior was clean and spacious. Reservations are available for up to 30 people, so group visits are possible too.

It is popular for its classic Korean menu, including spicy stir-fried pork, bibimbap (mixed rice), and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew).

The utensils are in the table drawer, and I liked that they were kept in covers—it felt hygienic.

Complimentary fermented soybean paste hot pot with orders for 2 or more

The main dishes have a two-person minimum, so this is better for a visit with at least two people than for dining alone. 👉 Order any menu item for two or more, and you get the countryside fermented soybean paste hot pot as a complimentary dish, making for an even more filling and generous meal.

Rice needs to be ordered separately, but it is also delicious to have the Buja bibimbap instead of a plain bowl of rice. It goes well with the soybean paste stew too.

Here is the spread of homemade basic side dishes, with that comforting home-cooked feel, and the complimentary countryside fermented soybean paste hot pot. The sweet, chewy, crispy fried burdock with sweet glaze was especially delicious, and you can buy it separately too.

When you eat spicy stir-fried pork, wrapping it in greens is a must, right? I loved being able to take as many wrap vegetables as I wanted from the self-service bar. The lettuce, brought in every morning from Maecheon Market, was incredibly fresh.

It comes on a stone plate, so you can enjoy it warm for a long time. The smoky aroma before I even took a bite was no joke. It sizzles away on the plate and the sauce can splatter, so an apron is essential!

The black rice was served in a generous bowl, and the rice itself was really good.

The countryside fermented soybean paste hot pot came with our squid and spicy pork main dish! As its name suggests, it is a doenjang-jjigae made with cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste), so it had a distinctly rich, nutty depth. It was complimentary, but it made quite an impression. Once it came to a lively boil, we could serve ourselves; the burner also let us keep it gently simmering over low heat so it would not get cold, which I liked.

Smoky spicy pork with adjustable heat

You can adjust the heat level of the spicy pork. We chose the regular level from regular, spicy, and very spicy, and I loved that it did not taste bland at all, perhaps because the smoky fire-grilled flavor was so strong.

🔥 Banwoldang Buja Sikdang's spicy stir-fried pork is coated in a special seasoning with the touch of Mom's home cooking, then fire-grilled for that smoky flavor! The spicy, savory seasoning was intensely flavorful and addictive.

It was even more abundant with chewy, springy squid added in. I liked the squid and spicy pork because I could enjoy both squid and meat, but you can also order just one of them according to your taste.

It also included enoki mushrooms, onions, and scallions, which were nice to eat alongside it.

It is the kind of flavor that makes it easy to finish a whole bowl of rice. They also had a spicy creamy pork dish with cream sauce and cheese, which sounds delicious in a totally different way!

I made generous wraps with tender lettuce. They also give you a large bowl for mixing rice: add rice, spicy pork, bean sprouts, and radish, moisten it lightly with the soybean paste stew, then mix it all together for another special treat.

A filling meal from smoky pork to bibimbap

It was a great place for a satisfying meal: wrap the smoky spicy pork in greens, mix up the rice, and enjoy the rich fermented soybean paste hot pot alongside it. If you are looking for a delicious Korean restaurant, I recommend Banwoldang Buja Sikdang in Beomeo-dong!
