You know those days when you suddenly crave sushi? That's what happened to us — my husband and I were debating dinner and both wanted sushi. I used to love Sushiro back in Japan, and the reviews here were so good I got curious. It's also a place that just opened not long ago but is already packed, which made me even more excited.

Apparently Australia is more of a Japanese-food hotspot than you'd expect, so sushi there is actually quite famous. Above all, I loved that everything here is a flat ₩2,200 per plate, so you can pick whatever sushi you want without worrying about the price.

It wasn't hard to find near Mundeok in Pohang, and parking right in front made it easy to visit by car. Seeing how crowded it was, it clearly seems to be a popular destination for anyone looking for conveyor sushi in Pohang's Nam-gu.

What's it like at 6pm?

We visited around 6pm, and since it was dinner time, the place was pretty much full. Walking in, we found tables arranged around the conveyor sushi rail.

Sushi plates moving quickly along the rail

It was a busy atmosphere in the evening, but the plates kept cycling through quickly, so nothing felt like it had been sitting out too long. Honestly, I felt like that fast turnover was actually a plus — it meant the sushi stayed fresh.

And here's the part of conveyor sushi restaurants I personally love — watching the plates spin by right in front of you, thinking, "should I get that one? Ooh, that looks good too" haha.

A flat ₩2,200 per plate

One of the biggest perks of Hojueseo on Hoejeon Chobap is the flat ₩2,200 per plate. No matter what kind of sushi, it's basically the same price, so it was nice not having to calculate costs as we ate.

Plates of fruit and dessert

Not just sushi — fruit and desserts also come at the same flat price, which was great. And it's not only conveyor belt style here; each table has its own kiosk, so you can order specific sushi directly. If something you want isn't on the rail, you don't need to wait for it to pass by — you just order it on the kiosk, which was really convenient.

My favorite was the salmon sushi

Among all the sushi, salmon was definitely my favorite. If you love salmon, you'll probably find yourself reaching for it first too, just like me haha. The soft salmon paired so well with the sushi rice that I ended up grabbing it several times. My husband's favorite, on the other hand, was the flounder kimchi.

Turns out even a married couple's tastes are slightly different... haha. Which is exactly why conveyor sushi is great — everyone just picks what they want to eat.

Cheese dishes can be warmed on request

One more thing I personally loved — dishes topped with cheese, which taste even better warm, could be heated up if you just asked staff. Instead of eating cold sushi the whole time, being able to have warm dishes in between made the meal feel more varied.

How much for two?

We visited as a couple that day and really picked out all sorts of things. Between the variety of sushi and the fruit and desserts we added on, before we knew it, we had quite a stack of plates haha.
