Sandwich trio to go with rye bread swap: Eopcheonri382 Cheongju

In short

Eopcheonri382 Chungbuk National University Branch is a sandwich and poke café in Sachang-dong, Cheongju, right across from Chungbuk National University. On a rainy late-August weekend afternoon, all three sandwiches — chicken breast, shrimp, and bulgogi — were ordered with a rye bread upgrade and packed to go along with a brown sugar bubble tea, and the bulgogi sandwich was so filling that even half of it was enough. With ample parking out front and a bus stop right at the door, it's an easy pick for a hearty meal.

Inside on a rainy weekend afternoon

I visited Eopcheonri 382 on a weekend afternoon in late August when it was raining unusually hard. There were no customers inside, just phone orders coming in. When I came around the start of summer, there were plenty of customers — people studying on laptops, others on dates — but maybe because it was a rainy weekend afternoon, no one was around, so I took the chance to photograph every corner of the interior.

By the sunny window, a monstera plant was growing impressively well. When a nice-vibe café also has great food, don't you just want to stay longer?

From a rustic countryside feel to a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, Eopcheonri 382 lets you enjoy meals, desserts, and drinks all in one place~

With chandeliers, pretty indirect lighting, and various fixtures, the vibe is really nice, and there are tables of different sizes — great for groups, and there's also a bar table perfect for eating or studying alone!

Three sandwiches plus brown sugar bubble tea to go

Take-out bag with three sandwiches and a drink

I wanted three types of sandwiches and a brown sugar bubble tea, so that's what I ordered, and they packed it all up safely. The packaging bag was understated yet classy, and even the box holding the sandwiches was so neat it felt like getting a gift.

Today's menu

Three rye bread sandwiches and brown sugar bubble tea laid out together

I switched to rye bread for the chicken breast, shrimp, and bulgogi sandwiches I ordered. Together with the brown sugar bubble tea, doesn't it look like a matching set?

Can you see how fresh and packed the chicken breast sandwich filling is? The freshness of the crisp lettuce and shredded cucumber was so good that I didn't even think the chicken breast might be a bit dry. The finely cut chicken breast wasn't dry at all. The tomato, cabbage, and all the other ingredients were so fresh that the texture was great, and I felt healthier with every bite. I guess the basics really are the tastiest. The rye bread had nuts scattered throughout, which gave a nice chewy bite. Switching to rye bread was a great choice.

Shrimp sandwich ₩8,400 / rye bread swap +₩500

The shrimp sandwich has plump, springy fried shrimp inside — crispy, tasty fried shrimp with just the right amount of sauce, like a salad-style sandwich, and the harmony with the rye bread gives it a nutty, refreshing flavor. Isn't the packaging pretty too? For someone who loves shrimp like me, Eopcheonri's shrimp sandwich is a combination I trust completely!

Bulgogi sandwich ₩8,400 / rye bread swap +₩500

The bulgogi sandwich, Eopcheonri's signature menu item, is something I'd definitely recommend trying if you come here. It's packed with more delicious bulgogi (marinated beef) than you'd get at many dedicated bulgogi restaurants, along with well-balanced vegetables, tomato, and even cheese. Oh, and that yellow bit in the middle was a fried egg. Wow, even after eating just half, I was already full — it's so satisfying and tastes so good that I highly recommend it.

Brown sugar bubble tea too

You can't visit a famous café near Chungbuk National University without getting a drink, right? Looking through the menu, I spotted brown sugar bubble tea. I remembered enjoying the chewy texture at another café before, so I ordered it. It's delicious. The drinks at Eopcheonri 382 are great too — the brown sugar bubble tea wasn't too sweet, with just the right sweetness and chewiness, so I think I'll order this sandwich-and-bubble-tea combo again next time~
