Tripe soup dipped in mustard sauce, Ingye-dong Suwon: Jeju Eunhuine

In short

Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is a haejangguk (hangover soup) and tripe soup restaurant in Ingye-dong, near Suwon City Hall Station. On a weekday lunch visit alone, the writer ordered the tripe soup and the dombe pork + tripe salad (yang-muchim) set, and found the rich beef bone broth packed with tripe and big cubes of seonji (blood tofu), especially good dipped in the mustard sauce. With parking for about 25 cars and a note at the door offering free coffee to delivery riders, Jeju Eunhuine made for a satisfying one-dish lunch.

I had some errands to run in Ingye-dong a while back, and by the time I finished it was right around lunchtime, haha. Since I'd only had a light breakfast that day, I suddenly got really hungry and started searching for somewhere nearby to eat.

The place that caught my eye was Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch. Honestly, Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk is such a well-known chain — it has locations all over the country and has long been popular among people who love hangover soup — so I didn't think twice and just headed over.

This was my first time at the Ingye branch specifically. To cut to the chase: I went in for a quick lunch and came out far more satisfied than I expected, haha. The restaurant was really spacious and clean, and even though it's in Ingye-dong, there was plenty of parking, which made it easy to visit by car. Best of all, the owner and staff were so friendly that I enjoyed the whole meal.

That day I wanted to properly enjoy some Jeju flavors alongside my usual favorite, tripe soup, so I also ordered the dombe pork + tripe salad set. Long story short, the combination was excellent. If you're looking for a good Ingye-dong restaurant, a hearty gukbap (soup with rice) near Suwon City Hall Station, or a filling lunch spot near Suwon City Hall, let me walk you through it in detail~ haha.

Where is Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch, and what are its hours and parking?

Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is located at 28 Hyowon-ro 265beon-gil, 1st floor, Unit 102, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Hours are Mon–Fri 10:00–22:30 (last order 22:00) and Sat–Sun 09:00–21:30 (last order 21:00), with parking available both in front of the building and underground.

Whenever you drive to Ingye-dong, parking is always the first worry, right? But here, you can use both the surface lot in front of the building and the underground lot, which made things much easier than expected. According to the info I saw, there's room for about 10 cars above ground and about 15 underground — roughly 25 spots in total. That's a real advantage smack in the middle of Ingye-dong. For anyone driving over for lunch like I did, it's especially convenient.

The first thing I thought walking in was, "Wow, this is a lot bigger than I expected." Hangover soup restaurants usually bring to mind tightly packed tables and a slightly chaotic vibe, but here the space was open overall with plenty of room between tables — really pleasant. Above all, the place itself was kept impeccably clean, which I appreciated.

There were solo seats set up for people eating alone, along with a range of 4-person and 6-person tables, making it look suitable for solo dining as well as family meals, office lunches, or small work dinners. Since it was lunchtime, I did see quite a few office workers eating solo, and since the food comes out fast, it seemed like a great option for a quick meal during a busy lunch break.

There was also a self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant.

You can help yourself to more side dishes or rice, and with a single-meal order, extra rice is free — great news for anyone who loves gukbap, haha. Sometimes when you're mixing rice into the broth you run a little short, so being able to grab more without worrying about extra charges was a nice touch.

The menu at Jeju Eunhuine and what the writer ordered

Wall menu listing haejangguk and tripe soup

When you think of Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk, hangover soup naturally comes to mind first. Looking at the menu, though, there was a wide range of Jeju-style dishes too — not just the basic haejangguk (hangover soup), but tripe soup, dombe pork, and tripe salad.

The haejangguk in particular is loaded with beef, blood tofu, bean sprouts, napa cabbage, and glass noodles, served in a rich bone broth — apparently that's the restaurant's signature style.

I went with my usual favorite that day, tripe soup. Actually, tripe soup is one of the foods I've loved ever since my military service days, haha. On top of that, I couldn't just skip past the dombe pork + tripe salad set on the menu, so I ordered that too.

Dombe pork is made by boiling clean, Jeju-raised fresh pork belly in a broth with various ingredients, giving it a softer, cleaner taste than regular boiled pork. The tripe salad, meanwhile, mixes chewy beef tripe with cucumber, carrot, green onion, onion, minari (water dropwort), and cheongyang chili, giving it a spicy, crunchy texture. Looking at photos, this combo comes highly recommended, and after trying it myself, I immediately understood why.

The side dishes that come with every bowl

After ordering, the basic side dishes came out first. It was a clean lineup that pairs well with gukbap — kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), crisp green chili peppers, and minced garlic. The kkakdugi in particular was crunchy and refreshing, pairing beautifully with the tripe soup. At a gukbap restaurant, the broth matters, but honestly, the kkakdugi matters just as much, haha. Popping one in between bites cleansed my palate and worked really well with the spicy broth.

How to eat the dombe pork + tripe salad set

Shortly after, the dombe pork and tripe salad set arrived. I'd come for the tripe soup and ordered this as a side, but to cut to the chase — this combo was seriously amazing.

I tried a piece of dombe pork on its own first. It looked glossy and tender, and it really was soft and moist to eat. Apparently it's made by boiling fresh Jeju pork belly in a multi-ingredient broth, and there was almost none of the dryness or gamey smell you sometimes get with boiled pork — just a clean, savory flavor that grew the more I chewed. First I tried it plain to taste the pork itself, then dipped it lightly in the salted shrimp that came alongside.

Dombe pork and salted shrimp really do go well together, haha. The salty shrimp brought out the clean flavor of the meat, and honestly this alone would've been more than satisfying.

But personally, what I liked best that day was eating the dombe pork together with the tripe salad.

A plate of spicy tripe salad mixed with beef tripe and vegetables

The tripe salad had chewy beef tripe along with cucumber, carrot, green onion, onion, minari, and cheongyang chili. The special sauce was spicy with a good savory depth, so much that the tripe salad alone kept my chopsticks going.

Piling a piece of soft dombe pork on top and eating them together, the savoriness of the meat and the spicy crunch of the tripe salad matched perfectly.

Adding a chili on top for good measure brought an extra sharp kick and crunch — this was my favorite way to eat it, haha. Dombe pork alone is great, dipped in salted shrimp it's great, and eaten with tripe salad it's a completely different experience — lots of fun trying it different ways. If you visit Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk, I'd really recommend trying the dombe pork and tripe salad as a set.

Tripe soup: the broth, how much tripe, and the mustard sauce

Then the dish I'd been looking forward to most that day arrived: the tripe soup. It came out bubbling in a stone pot, and the smell alone was fantastic. As I mentioned, tripe soup is a food I've loved since my military days, so whenever I see it on a new restaurant's menu, I tend to order it, haha.

From the very first spoonful, I thought, "Wow, this broth runs deep." You could clearly taste the rich bone-broth flavor, but it wasn't heavy or thick — it went down clean. Since it's clearly simmered for a long time, the savory depth really came through.

What I liked most was how generous the tripe portion was. Every time I dipped my spoon in, more chewy tripe came up. Both the tripe and the intestine had that satisfying chewy texture, with almost no gamey smell, so it was easy to enjoy without hesitation.

When I eat tripe soup or hangover soup, I love adding minced garlic, and it was available here so you could add as much as you like. I added a generous scoop halfway through, and the sharp garlic aroma deepened the already-rich bone broth even further. It paired especially well with the savory tripe flavor, so if you're a garlic lover like me, definitely try adding some, haha.

Chewy tripe inside the stone pot of tripe soup

Sometimes with tripe soup, the broth is great but the actual ingredients feel a bit skimpy — there was none of that here at all. A sip of broth, a bite of tripe, a spoonful of rice, and the bowl disappears in no time, haha.

Dipping it lightly in the mustard sauce that came with it added a tangy, sharp kick that paired beautifully with the tripe. Dipping tripe soaked in the rich broth into the mustard sauce cut through any heaviness and was a whole different treat.

And the blood tofu, which I love, came in really big chunks. It wasn't broken up into small pieces but left in large chunks, so it felt properly satisfying to eat. The texture was soft rather than dry, pairing really well with the broth.

On top of that, there was plenty of napa cabbage and bean sprouts, so the broth was rich yet finished with a refreshing aftertaste.

Mixing in a little rice and topping it with a piece of kkakdugi — that's exactly what a proper bowl of gukbap should feel like, haha. It was plenty filling for lunch, and I imagine it would work great as a hangover cure too if you'd been drinking the night before.

Free rider coffee: the note by the door at Jeju Eunhuine

Mint candies and a coffee vending machine near the entrance

After finishing a really filling meal and heading out, I noticed mint candies and a coffee vending machine set up by the entrance. It was nice that they'd set up coffee for people to grab after a hearty bowl of gukbap, and then a note posted next to it caught my eye.

Delivery riders, please enjoy a warm cup of coffee and drive safe today. Fighting!

It might seem like a small thing, but I really loved seeing this. It's set up so delivery riders can grab a warm coffee even for just a moment, and this little gesture said a lot about the owner's character. I'd already thought the owner and staff were kind from the moment I walked in, and seeing this note on the way out made me like the place even more, haha. Good food matters, of course, but when a place shows this kind of consideration for people, it makes me want to come back again.

Is Jeju Eunhuine in Ingye-dong worth a lunch stop?

Overall, I was really satisfied with everything — the taste of the food, the atmosphere, the parking, and the friendliness.

  • Tripe soup with a deep, rich broth loaded with tripe and blood tofu
  • Tender, gamey-smell-free Jeju dombe pork
  • Tripe salad with chewy tripe, crunchy vegetables, and a good spicy sauce
  • Even better when dombe pork and tripe salad are eaten together
  • Solo seats plus 4- and 6-person tables, good for solo dining, family meals, or gatherings
  • Self-serve bar and free extra rice with a single-meal order
  • Generous parking, convenient for driving to Ingye-dong
  • Clean restaurant with a kind owner and staff

What stuck with me most that day was definitely the tripe soup and the dombe pork + tripe salad combo. I had high expectations for the tripe soup since I love it so much, and it delivered — rich but not heavy, with generous amounts of tripe and big chunks of blood tofu.

And the dombe pork and tripe salad I ordered as a side dish? I would've regretted not ordering them, haha. The tender dombe pork was great dipped in salted shrimp, and topped with spicy tripe salad or chili, I kept eating without ever feeling heavy.

If you're looking for a good restaurant in Ingye-dong, a hot and hearty bowl of gukbap near Suwon City Hall Station, or an easy lunch spot near Suwon City Hall, Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is worth a visit. I think I'll head back next time for the regular hangover soup, haha.
