Jeonpo pizza restaurant with a whole taco pizza: Pickles, Busan

I came to Busan to meet a friend and heard there was a great pizza spot in Jeonpo, so I stopped by.

Pickles doesn't have its own parking lot, so if you're driving you'll need to use a nearby paid lot. Jeonpo Station Parking, Woongjin Parking, and Hyundai Tower Parking are listed as nearby options. Whether parking fees are covered needs to be checked separately.

How long is the wait at 1pm on a Friday? About 20 minutes

At first I was a bit confused about the exact location, but I found it right away thanks to the red Leon sign and the Pickles lettering. I visited around 1pm on a Friday weekday, and there were about 4 parties waiting ahead of me. Still, the wait wasn't long — I got seated within 20 minutes. Jeonpo-dong tends to get busy even on weekdays, so the wait could be longer during lunch hours or on weekends.

Inside Pickles: natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows

The interior was neatly done up in a white-and-wood combination. The lighting had a warm feel too, which added to the dining atmosphere.

Big windows let in plenty of natural light, brightening the whole space, and there were separated seating areas that felt cozy. It was a nice spot to chat with a friend over a meal, and it seemed like it would also work well as a lunch spot for a date or during a trip.

The self-serve bar: water and pickles

Water and pickles are self-serve — just grab them yourself. Eating pizza with pickles cuts down on the greasiness, so it was nice to be able to take as much as I needed.

Taco pizza, 25,000 won: it really does taste like a taco

The shape was a bit different from a regular pizza crust, so it looked appetizing from the moment it arrived. The crust wasn't thick but thin, so the toppings and cheese were more visible.

Taco pizza (₩25,000) — the taco pizza was topped with ground meat, onion, and corn — toppings that immediately bring taco to mind — with sour cream added as the finishing touch. The cheese stretched warmly, and the thin crust with the toppings looked great too.

I was curious what a pizza made in the shape of a taco would taste like, and it worked way better than I expected. Eating the ground meat, onion, and corn together on the thin crust really did feel like eating an actual taco.

The tanginess from the onion and sour cream also made the pizza less greasy. It had a fresh taste even without pickles on the side, so it was easy to keep eating, and I think anyone who likes tacos would enjoy this one.

Bacon cream pasta, 16,000 won: green onion is the highlight

Bacon cream pasta (₩16,000) — the bacon cream pasta has a thick cream sauce with smoked bacon and green onion. It was my first time trying cream pasta with green onion, so I was curious how it would taste, but one bite in, it was right up my alley.

The cream sauce was thick and savory, but there was a slight spicy kick that cut through the richness. The subtle aroma and flavor of the green onion also added something different from a typical cream pasta.

The smoked bacon was salty with a smoky, almost fire-grilled flavor, and it blended with the cream sauce to boost the savoriness. Personally, the bacon cream pasta left more of an impression on me than the taco pizza.

Who Pickles suits best

At Pickles, I got to try a style of pizza different from your typical chain pizza. Store-bought pizzas often have a thick crust with a strong flour taste that can be a letdown, but the Pickles pizza had a thin crust with generous toppings, which was satisfying. The taco pizza stood out for its combination of ground meat, onion, corn, and sour cream, while the bacon cream pasta was memorable for its green onion and smoked bacon.
