The mornings and evenings have gotten quite chilly lately, and maybe because it is the change of seasons, I have been getting tired so easily 🥹 I figured this was exactly when I needed a proper restorative meal, so I visited a great eel place in Jijok-dong. At Songrimbok Jangeo, you can eat as much fresh freshwater eel as you like, along with unlimited pork belly and chicken neck meat, so both meat lovers and eel lovers can leave happy—I’ll introduce it to you 🤍
Songrimbok Jangeo location and parking
Songrimbok Jangeo is in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. There is a spacious, pleasant dedicated parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so even new drivers can park comfortably. It is also perfect for company dinners, family meals, or group gatherings 🚗

At Songrimbok Jangeo, they say they prepare live eels themselves every morning from the eel farm and direct market! I think the biggest draw is getting quality eel at a reasonable price with the unlimited refill option 💡

Booth seating and private rooms
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the clean, comfortable interior! Each table is separated by high-backed sofa booth partitions, creating a private yet relaxing setup for dining. The tables are generously spaced and the ventilation is well equipped, so you can grill meat or eel comfortably without worrying about smoke. There are private rooms for groups too, so if you are planning a gathering, it might be nice to reserve ahead 🪧

These days, a proper serving of grilled eel can easily cost well over ₩40,000–₩50,000 per person, but here you can enjoy unlimited high-quality freshwater eel in the ₩20,000 range per person! The unlimited refill time limit is 2 hours, and Songrimbok Jangeo also offers takeout. There was even a guide for grilling eel deliciously, which was helpful to follow while grilling 💡

The self-service bar and first platter
The basic side dishes are aged kimchi, green onion kimchi, pickled onions, pickled perilla leaves, and shredded ginger. You can conveniently help yourself to more side dishes at the self-service bar.

At the self-service bar, there was pork belly and chicken neck meat as well as eel, and I loved being able to take as much as I wanted without feeling self-conscious. The side-dish bar was well stocked with shredded ginger, aged kimchi, green onion kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, ssam vegetables, garlic, peppers, and all kinds of sauces 🍀

For the first platter, the owner brought out fresh eel, pork belly, and chicken neck meat arranged beautifully 🙌🏻 Not only the eel, but the pork belly and chicken neck meat also looked like great-quality meat.

How I grilled and ate the freshwater eel
For the first round, I started with the star of the show: eel! 🤍 As the instructions said, grill it skin-side down first, then cook it golden on both sides, cut it into bite-size pieces, and finish grilling it.

I tried the nicely cooked eel with the house teriyaki sauce. It was crisp on the outside and moist and tender inside. Since it was unlimited refill, I worried the quality might be lacking, but it had no off smell and tasted clean and delicious! 👍🏻

One thing I really loved about Songrimbok Jangeo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ They also gave us bokbunja ju (Korean black raspberry wine) as a service! The sweet bokbunja ju paired so well with the eel 🧉 My very best combination was eel with teriyaki sauce and pickled perilla leaves 🫶🏻 Even though it is unlimited refill, the eel was incredibly plump!
Grilling eel with pork belly and chicken neck meat
Next, I grilled the eel together with pork belly and chicken neck meat! I tend to prefer eating a variety of things rather than just one food, so I absolutely loved being able to grill eel, pork, and chicken all at once ☺️

The pork belly was thick, savory, and delicious enough to rival a dedicated pork belly restaurant. The chicken neck meat had that distinctively springy yet tender texture that kept me reaching for more. Having pork belly and chicken neck meat in between bites of eel meant there was never a chance to get tired of it 🙌🏻

I finished with grilled garlic and eel 🤍 What a delicious meal! Even though it is unlimited refill, the eel and meat quality was so good that I left truly satisfied. You can enjoy not only eel but also pork and chicken in whatever variety suits your taste, so it never gets boring 😋 If you are looking for a restorative meal spot in Jijok-dong, Daejeon that delivers both value and quality, I wholeheartedly recommend Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel!
