Cheomdan Chinese restaurant lunch for two ordered by table QR: Mayway

Trying to figure out what to eat for lunch in Cheomdan after a while, and suddenly Chinese food came to mind?!

A new restaurant that just opened in Cheomdan! Went to lunch with my boyfriend at Mayway—

On a day we both wanted jjamppong and jjajang, we split things up and got a bit of everything with my boyfriend, and everything we ordered that day was a hit!

Where is Mayway in Cheomdan, and what are its hours?

Mayway is at 6 Cheomdangangbyeon-ro 87beon-gil, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. It's easy to find, near Lotte Mart and across from Gyeojassi Church.

Inside Mayway: dining room and how table QR ordering works

Mayway's dining hall is really big and spacious—delivery orders kept coming in too, but it seemed really nice to eat there in person as well. Most of the tables seat four. The place is clean and tidy too!

Spoons, chopsticks, wet wipes, and napkins were all neatly kept. And can you see the QR code and ordering info on the table?! That's right—there's no separate paper menu, you just order directly via QR! :) You pay when you leave!

What two people ordered at Mayway, and what it cost

Since we both wanted jjamppong and jjajang, we ended up ordering jjukkumi wangjjajang for ₩12,900, brisket jjamppong for ₩13,900, a half-order tangsuyuk for ₩18,900, and a zero-sugar cola for ₩2,000—

They gave us sweet potato fritters as a free extra! I wanted to save it for dessert somehow, so I set it aside! :)

Mayway's self-serve side dish bar: the scallion kimchi stands out

For side dishes, you use the self-serve bar, and it's kept nice and tidy, which I liked! Raw onion, macaroni corn salad, pickled radish, and scallion kimchi ★ the scallion kimchi is amazing too!! Make sure to grab some kimchi from the self-serve bar—

We grabbed just as much as we could eat from the self-serve bar :)

Brisket jjamppong, 13,900 won: how rich is the broth?

My boyfriend's PICK, brisket jjamppong! It comes with a generous pile of brisket on top of the jjamppong, and it passes the visual test right away!

Steam rising off it, looking seriously appetizing, right?! You've really got to eat this in the dining room!! ★

With the meat in it, the broth turns rich and deep, a different kind of charm from a regular seafood jjamppong! It really was an excellent choice—one spicy spoonful of broth, some brisket, and the noodles together, genuinely delicious. If you like meat jjamppong, you'll fall for brisket jjamppong too!?

We shared it nicely on our own plates! Nice to eat a bit of everything~ :)

Mid-jjamppong, the jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk showed up. This menu pick was a total win! Honestly every single dish was delicious!

What does Mayway's jjukkumi wangjjajang, 12,900 won, taste like?

Actually, most people who come to Mayway probably come for the stone-griddle jjajangmyeon, but since we wanted both jjajang and jjamppong, we ordered the jjukkumi wangjjajang since it's a more unusual jjajangmyeon option— everyone, you have to try this!

Jjukkumi (baby octopus) is mixed in, so it looks distinctive from the start, and honestly the jjajang itself is really delicious! The black bean sauce is fantastic, and the chewy octopus is in there more generously than expected! I wasn't sure octopus would suit jjajangmyeon, but it was the best!!

We shared the jjajangmyeon nicely on our own plates too. I usually like jjajangmyeon anyway, but with octopus in it, it had a different, fun texture! The black bean sauce also has that smoky wok-fired flavor? — really tasty!

Half order of tangsuyuk, 18,900 won, with sauce on the side

Can't skip tangsuyuk~ it'd be a shame to leave it out! Jjajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk—it was the perfect order! With just the two of us ordering tangsuyuk on top, we were seriously stuffed~

The sauce comes separately :) happiness for the dip-it crowd!

Dipped it deep in the sauce—the sauce was delicious, but above all, the meat itself was delicious!

The tangsuyuk was so good that my boyfriend and I devoured it in a storm— going from jjajang and jjamppong straight to tangsuyuk—this combo was excellent! Make sure to order tangsuyuk too when you go~!

Complimentary sweet potato fritters and ice cream at Mayway

After finishing everything, we had the sweet potato fritters as dessert. Sweet potato fritters are usually thick, but these free ones were really thin, you know? Wow. But they were genuinely delicious!!!!

Ice cream also came free for dessert! A single blueberry plopped on top of strawberry ice cream—we really ate well here—

Wow, we cleared everything out—! We're leaving full and happy :)
