Brunch restaurant in Cheomdan, Gwangju: soufflé pancake at MooDoo

In short

MooDoo is a wood-fired pizza and brunch restaurant on the 2nd floor of Yastech Tower in the Cheomdan district of Gwangsan, Gwangju. The meal started with MooDoo's brunch plate (soufflé pancake) and grew into a margherita pizza and pescatore pasta, each 18,000 won, which was plenty of food for two, and a Naver reservation meant no waiting at the door. With an open kitchen, wide gaps between tables and a roomy underground car park, MooDoo suits a date or a family meal.

Looking for a wood-fired pizza place or a brunch spot in Gwangju? How about MooDoo, located in the Cheomdan district? I visited MooDoo today planning to just have a simple brunch!

I started with a soufflé pancake for brunch, but it was so good that I ended up ordering a margherita pizza and pescatore pasta too, haha. So here's my full review — the brunch, the parking situation, waiting info, and all the tips!

Where to park at MooDoo: Yastech Tower underground car park

MooDoo is on the 2nd floor of Yastech Tower. It might be confusing for first-timers, but if you're driving, just search "Yastech Tower"! Once you pull into the building, you'll see a sign pointing to the parking entrance right away.

You can see the way to the Yastech Tower parking lot here, right? Just follow this direction, haha.

The underground parking lot was way bigger than I expected, so I could park comfortably without any parking stress. There were quite a lot of spots too.

After parking, head up to the 2nd floor and you'll find MooDoo ;) I had booked ahead through Naver Reservation, but apparently you can also reserve through Tabling.

The entrance has "MOODOO" written big, and it says "brunch café," so at first I thought it was just a simple brunch spot! But it totally had the vibe of a full Western restaurant!?

Walking in with my expectations up, another phrase caught my eye! That all the bread and ingredients are made by hand in-house! Once I saw that, I couldn't wait to get inside, haha.

Another thing that sets MooDoo apart — the open kitchen!! You can see the whole cooking process, so no worries about hygiene!

Since I'd booked ahead through Naver, they guided me straight to my reserved seat with no waiting at all — so nice. Readers, book ahead too!

The interior has a modern look with a pretty unique floor. It's a warm brown-toned vintage epoxy floor, which made it feel even more sophisticated? The ceiling has that popular industrial style!

Every table has a tablet for ordering, and can you see the seat spacing? It was the widest I've ever seen anywhere I've been. With floor-to-ceiling windows in the back, high-end curtains, and soft lighting all coming together, the atmosphere was really great, haha. Perfect for a date, I think, haha.

MooDoo menu and prices in Cheomdan, Gwangju

The always-tricky moment of choosing what to order! I'd originally planned to go the brunch route, but since they're known for wood-fired pizza and pasta, I ended up ordering a bit of everything.

The three main dishes we ordered at MooDoo

Now it's time to introduce today's main dishes~~~

1. Margherita pizza, 18,000 won

The margherita pizza came pre-cut into 6 slices, perfect for two to share. MooDoo Cheomdan's wood-fired pizza uses dough that's been slow-fermented at low temperature for 24 hours! Maybe that's why the texture felt totally different from other pizza dough!

The crust edges are baked at high heat, so they came out crispy + chewy + clean-tasting. The tomato sauce was salty but not overpowering, so it was really delicious. The mozzarella cheese was piled on so generously it stretched like crazy — check out the video too, haha.

2. Pescatore pasta, 18,000 won

And my personal favorite out of everything I ate today — the pescatore pasta, hands down! Think of it as a spicy tomato-based spaghetti loaded with seafood like shrimp and mussels~!

It had a distinctly clean taste compared to regular tomato spaghetti, with none of that heavy greasiness! The noodles were also cooked perfectly al dente :)

The amount of seafood was so generous it felt like a steal, haha.

3. Brunch plate with soufflé pancake, 18,000 won

Today's original goal, the brunch menu — the soufflé pancake! There was a brunch plate option so I gave it a try, and honestly the soufflé pancake stole the whole show, haha. Lightly seared on the outside, soft on the inside, it just melted in my mouth :)

Dusted with powdered sugar for sweetness, plus a soft-boiled egg for a clean bite. With roasted baby potatoes, sausage, ham, and cherry tomatoes rounding it out, the plate was so full I honestly could've filled up on this alone, haha.

It also came with three sauces — jam, ketchup, and honey — which was such a nice touch, haha.

Cider enjoyed to finish off the meal

Whenever I get too full, I sip on some Cider (Korean lemon-lime soda) to help digestion, haha. Good way to wrap things up :)

Is MooDoo in Cheomdan worth it? Final verdict

This would be a great spot for a special date, and also absolutely perfect for a family gathering. I'm already planning to come back for an anniversary sometime :) Readers, you should check it out too, haha!
