When you're looking for a hearty dinner spot in Mokpo, bossam (boiled pork wraps) naturally comes to mind, right? This time I visited Bak Man-bae Arirang Bossam Mokpo Hadang Branch, where you can get gabrisal (pork shoulder) bossam in Hadang, Mokpo. While hunting for a good Mokpo bossam restaurant, the half-and-half bossam — which lets you enjoy golden cabbage and kimchi at once — caught my eye, so I went. Being able to alternate between the meat, the kimchi and the sides meant even one plate could be enjoyed in several different combinations.
It was also a great Mokpo Hadang restaurant for a family meal or a group outing. Let me walk you through the parking, interior atmosphere, menu prices and the bossam itself, in the order I photographed everything.
Located near the center of Hadang in Mokpo, it's a convenient spot for either lunch or dinner. It runs with no break time and also offers takeout and group dining, so it suits different kinds of visits.
Where do you park at Bak Man-bae Arirang Bossam?

Bak Man-bae Arirang Bossam has basement parking, but the space is fairly limited. If there's no spot, you can park along the nearby road or in a public parking lot close to the restaurant.
The building and entrance in Hadang, Mokpo

As soon as you arrive at the building, the Bak Man-bae Arirang Bossam sign is easy to spot, so finding the entrance wasn't difficult at all. It's in the area where many Hadang restaurants cluster together, so it's convenient to stop by along with other nearby plans.

On one side of the restaurant hung photos of YouTuber Hibab and singer Baek Ji-young from their visits. It was fun to spot photos of these well-known figures while eating.
Inside: seating and high chairs for kids
Walking inside, there was a long row of regular tables, and everything felt neat and well organized overall.

Inside, tables suited for four people were lined up in a row, which looked comfortable for families or larger groups to dine together.

Kids' chairs were also on hand, which seemed convenient for families visiting with children.
Menu and prices at this Mokpo bossam restaurant

The menu at Bak Man-bae Arirang Bossam Mokpo Hadang Branch ranges from kimchi bossam and half-and-half bossam to naengchae bossam and hongeo samhap (fermented skate combo). Kimchi bossam small is ₩41,000, half-and-half bossam small is ₩42,000, naengchae bossam is ₩45,000, hongeo samhap medium is ₩55,000, kkotge bajirak kalguksu (crab and clam knife-cut noodles) for two is ₩20,000, and jaengban guksu (tray noodles) is ₩8,000.
Except on public holidays, a ₩12,000 bossam set menu is also available until 2pm, worth checking out if you're visiting for lunch. When you order bossam, you can choose between mak guksu and kalguksu.
Side dishes and the self-serve bar

Before the bossam arrived, basic side dishes came out: kimchi, stir-fried fish cake, chive salad, peppers and garlic. A salad also came along, good for a light nibble while waiting for the bossam or to eat between bites of meat.

The self-serve bar had wrap vegetables and basic side dishes ready to grab whenever you needed more. There was also tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) set aside, nice for a light bite before the bossam came out.
Half-and-half bossam (small): mak guksu and kalguksu together

That day I wanted to try both styles at once, so I chose the half-and-half bossam. It came as one plate with golden cabbage, kimchi and gabrisal bossam all together.

We ordered two bossam and picked one mak guksu and one kalguksu so we could try both. The tangy mak guksu and the warm kalguksu offered two very different styles, good for alternating with the bossam.

The mak guksu's tangy sauce was evenly mixed through the noodles, good for waking up the appetite. Eating it alongside a piece of bossam added a tart note to the clean flavor of the meat — a great pairing.

The kalguksu came with warm broth and noodles together, offering a completely different feel from the bossam. Taking a sip of the broth between bites of meat made for a warm finish.
Eating bossam with golden cabbage and bossam kimchi

Next I tried putting a piece of meat on the golden cabbage. The crunchy texture of the cabbage made it feel a bit fresher than eating the gabrisal on its own.

Piling on plenty of kimchi added seasoning flavor that paired well with the clean taste of the bossam. Adding a bit of garlic or salted shrimp to the wrap vegetables meant even the same bossam could be enjoyed with different combinations each time.
Free rice puff corner and misugaru slush

On one side there was a self-serve corner for making your own ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snack) along with a misugaru (roasted grain powder) slushie machine. Good for a light treat before or after the meal, and worth trying if you're visiting with kids.
Visit tips: receipt review event and waiting times

Each table had a sign about the receipt review event. Writing a review lets you choose between a ₩2,000 cash discount or a benefit like grape or lemon ade or a soft drink. Up to two per table were allowed, and only one applied for the lunch special, according to the signage.

Near the entrance there was also a waiting list so guests could be seated in order during busy times. During peak hours like evenings or weekends, it's a good idea to check the wait as soon as you arrive.
