I heard they are open as usual without days off, except on days such as the actual holiday itself. I visited around 1 p.m. on a weekday, and it was busy because it was lunchtime. I just barely escaped having to wait..! 😲

As expected, the Blue Ribbon display caught my eye right from the entrance 💙🎀💙 (So excited!)

The interior was nice and clean, and I loved that it had an open kitchen ^_^! It seems like an easy place to come for a solo meal too, haha.

The restroom was inside the restaurant too, which was super convenient :) Even the coat hooks were such a thoughtful touch, haha.

So, how was the Korean beef tripe hot pot?

Doonjeong's gomtang (clear beef soup) is a premium clear soup made with carefully selected 100% Korean ingredients, including Korean native beef cows and Saecheongmu rice, a single domestic variety grown in Jeollanam-do. It is served with Korean kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) made from Korean ingredients. There is also a varied selection of drinks, including Korean distilled soju, cheongju (clear rice wine), and yakju (traditional rice wine), to enjoy alongside Doonjeong's many dishes ✨

A hot pot generous with Korean beef tripe, meat, and tendon

The hot pot is generously loaded not only with Korean beef tripe but also with meat, tendon, and other cuts. Until the very end of the meal, I never felt short on ingredients, and I could enjoy all the different textures. True to its motto of sticking to 100% Korean ingredients and native beef cows, there was absolutely no unpleasant or fishy smell; everything tasted clean and fresh. The plentiful tripe in particular added a rich, creamy flavor—a lovely surprise and a great little kick amid the clean hot-pot broth 〰️

A gentle broth that sits comfortably

As the hot pot simmered and the flavors deepened, dipping the meat into the house soy sauce was ridiculously good. Rather than being an aggressive flavor covered in seasoning, it highlighted the deep, pure lightness of the broth itself. My stomach felt comfortable even after the meal, and I loved having that satisfying feeling of, “I finally had a healthy meal made with good food.”

Home-style side dishes and warm service

The complimentary kkakdugi and kimchi were on another level from factory-made products; they felt full of care, as though they had been made at home. I was also very impressed by the attentive service from the owner, who personally looked after the dining room. Whether guests were alone or in a group, they warmly took care of every single person. It was a warmth that went beyond the taste of the food. So touching 〰️

✔️ Adding the udon noodles is essential! After enjoying the hot pot's pure, original flavor for a while, I strongly recommend adding the udon noodles 👍🏻

It is great for an easy lunch, and if you want to experience the depth of proper Korean food along with some warm hospitality, you really should visit at least once❗️
