I had a lunch appointment near Hwajeong Station, so I went to Min Cook Dasima (민쿡다시마), a local favorite known for sushi. It has held its spot for a long time and is already well known among local residents; at lunchtime, plenty of diners come for its set meals. That day, I ordered the premium sushi set from the weekday lunch specials, along with zaru soba, which was perfect for the hot weather.

Getting there from Hwajeong Station and parking
The restaurant is about 247 m from Exit 1 of Hwajeong Station, at 37 Hwasin-ro 260beon-gil, so it was not difficult to reach on foot. The sign on the building exterior and the green “Dasima” lettering at the entrance are easy to spot. If you are driving, the official listing says parking is available, but when I visited recently there was road construction, so I parked at the E-Mart directly opposite. You can receive a one-hour free parking voucher after your meal, so parking should not be a concern.
Hours are daily from 11:00 to 21:00. Break time is 15:00–16:50, with last orders at 14:30 for lunch and 20:30 for dinner; the restaurant is regularly closed on the first and third Sunday of each month. I recommend arriving early if you want the lunch discount.

Menu and interior of a long-running Japanese restaurant
Near the entrance were displays for Goyang City’s tourism-restaurant certification, the Baeknyeon Gage designation, and photos of various activities. Introduced as a restaurant operating since 2001, it clearly has a substantial history, including its accumulated experience in Japanese cuisine. True to its phrase, “We do not compromise on ingredients,” the menu is broad: sushi at its center, plus set meals, rice bowls, tonkatsu, and pot rice.

The interior has a bright wood palette and large windows, so it did not feel stuffy. The tables are comfortably spaced and everything was neatly kept, making it seem suitable for a family meal or bringing your parents. The atmosphere works equally well for a light meal alone or a full set meal with several people. It is a popular spot, so a reservation would be much more convenient during the lunch rush.

Viewing the menu and ordering by QR code
Scan the QR code on the table with your phone to view the menu and photos, then order right away. Even on a first visit, the popular dishes are marked separately, so choosing was not especially difficult. Sushi naturally takes center stage, but there is also a varied selection including sake don and soba.
Premium sushi lunch special and zaru soba
The premium sushi set from the lunch special I chose was ₩25,000, and the zaru soba was ₩12,000. At ₩5,000 less than its regular ₩30,000 price, the premium sushi set was clearly great value for its spread.

The warm egg porridge that arrived first was mildly seasoned and soft, gently settling my stomach before the main dishes.

The zaru soba came with a generous scattering of shredded seaweed over the noodles, alongside tsuyu dipping sauce, radish and scallions, and pickles. The chilled buckwheat noodles were springy with a pleasantly snappy bite, and dipped into the not-too-salty tsuyu, their clean savory flavor came through nicely.

The premium sushi set filled the entire table, making a generous first impression. It came with nine pieces of assorted sushi, salmon and white-fish sashimi, salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), miso soup, assorted tempura, and kimchi. For a lunch special, it felt like an incredibly generous, excellent-value spread!

The fish on the sushi was thick, while the rice portion was not excessive, so the ingredients’ flavors came through well. I had initially planned to order the regular sushi set, but I was glad I chose the premium version.

The warm chawanmushi was smooth like pudding, and its flavor was very similar to the one I had at a sushi omakase in Osaka recently.

The salmon was soft and rich, while the white fish was mild with a satisfying resilience.

The shrimp and vegetable tempura were crisp as though they had just been fried, changing up the textures between bites.

A memorable lunch spread near Hwajeong Station
To sum it up! This Hwajeong Station restaurant I visited recently offered sushi, sashimi, tempura, and soup all at once, so I was highly satisfied with the ₩25,000 lunch special. If you are looking near Hwajeong Station for a lunch that balances price and variety, it is a place that will come to mind again.
