Seoul Station Japanese restaurant with a gyukatsu set for two: Ichigyu

In short

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, serving gyukatsu and steak set meals. We ordered Set No. 1 for two, with gyukatsu set meals and two drinks, and grilled the cutlets over melted Isigny butter. Verdict: a satisfying way to enjoy juicy sirloin gyukatsu with sauces to mix and match.

Gyukatsu set ordered for two people

There were two of us, so I ordered Set No. 1, which comes with two gyukatsu set meals and two drinks ✨ Ordering the set lets you enjoy it at a slightly better price than ordering items separately.

The rice arrived as two portions in one bowl, so we could serve ourselves as much as we wanted into the empty bowls that came with the set 🍚🍚

Sirloin gyukatsu grilled over a tabletop brazier

Here comes the main-event gyukatsu ,,, !!! It already looked so delicious just from the presentation, right? The golden breading and all that marbling made me want to dig in immediately.

Perfect for a Seoul Station lunch, the gyukatsu set came with fried tofu miso soup, cabbage salad, house sauce, wasabi, salt, chili sauce, and pickled cabbage. Such a hearty full set 〰️!!!

Once the grill is hot, melt the Isigny butter and start grilling the pieces one by one ღ The gyukatsu is served medium-rare, so just grill it to your liking and enjoy. Grilling it for around 7–8 seconds is best!!

Gyukatsu brazier with melted Isigny butter

The gyukatsu uses sirloin, and even within the same piece of meat, the marbling looked slightly different depending on the slice! Each piece had a subtly different richness and texture, so it seemed fun to pick your favorites.

One mini brazier was provided per two people. I worried that sharing one between us might be inconvenient, but the grill was wider than at other places, so it was better than expected! We started by grilling two pieces at a time, then got hungry and eventually loaded it up with four pieces at a time haha.

Grilling gyukatsu on a wide grill

Lightly grilling the gyukatsu in Isigny butter added a nutty, buttery flavor that made it even better. The sirloin was tender and juicy inside, with its juices and flavor filling my mouth more and more with every chew. (Just be careful not to grill it too long, as it can become tough.)

Try different sauce combinations

The house sauce + wasabi combination was especially tasty, with saltiness and a sharp little kick bringing the flavor to life ⛧ Chili sauce and salt are ready too, so try each one and find your favorite combination.
