Keto gimbap for a light meal in Euljiro 3-ga
When I need to sort out a simple meal, I always seem to come back to gimbap (seaweed rice rolls). It is easy to hold and eat with one hand, while still giving you a good balance of vegetables and protein, so I find myself choosing it often.

Especially on days when I want something light and clean, keto gimbap comes to mind. This time, after stopping by Myeongdong, I took away lunch from 29 Tamago Euljiro Branch, a keto gimbap specialist well known around Euljiro 3-ga. 29 Tamago is near Euljiro 3-ga Station, so it is easy to get to. It is also close to Myeongdong, making it a perfect spot for a meal while shopping or out for the day.

Order downstairs, then eat upstairs
After ordering on the first floor, we went upstairs and found a dining room that was more spacious than expected. You can eat in, take your food away, or order delivery, which is convenient. The weather has been so nice lately that they had thrown the windows wide open, and the atmosphere was lovely. Green trees were visible outside, so even while waiting for the food, I somehow felt more relaxed. Even in the middle of the city, a gentle breeze came in, making it a nice place to take a little break.

What kind of keto gimbap is it?
The reason for this visit was to try keto gimbap, which is known as a diet-friendly menu. Rather than using rice like regular gimbap, it is made with plenty of egg and vegetables, so it feels less carb-heavy and lets you eat lots of vegetables—that is its biggest strength.

So I would especially recommend it when you are dieting or simply want a clean, light meal.

Two gimbap rolls and jjolmyeon for two
The two of us ordered keto tuna gimbap, Vietnamese spring roll gimbap, and one serving of jjolmyeon (chewy noodles in a spicy, tangy sauce) as a side so we could have a filling meal. Personally, I think one roll each plus one side is more than enough for a satisfying meal for two.

What I liked was that they did not make the gimbap in advance—they prepared it as soon as we ordered.

That meant we could enjoy the ingredients fresh, and the careful packaging kept everything neatly in place. They also kindly explained how to eat it and which sauces they recommended, so even a first-time menu item was easy to enjoy.

Vietnamese spring roll gimbap with great vegetable crunch
We started with the Vietnamese spring roll gimbap. Just as its name suggests, it really felt like a Vietnamese spring roll wrapped up as gimbap.

It was packed with crisp vegetables, so every bite had a lively crunch. Dipping it into the recommended sauce brought out the flavor even more. With all those vegetables, it became filling quickly, and the pleasure of chewing made it especially satisfying.

Keto tuna gimbap with Cheongyang chili peppers
The keto tuna gimbap was really good too. It was generously filled with tuna, making it much more substantial than I expected, and the Cheongyang chili peppers cut through the richness nicely.

It was delicious on its own, but eating it with the recommended sauce gave it another dimension, so I could finish the whole roll without getting tired of it.

Tangy, spicy jjolmyeon that pairs well with gimbap
The jjolmyeon we ordered alongside it was better than expected too. They said the sauce uses fruits and vegetables such as apples, pears, and onions, and perhaps because of that, it had a naturally sweet-and-tangy flavor rather than an aggressively intense one. The first bite felt mild, then a clean spicy heat gradually came through. It was quite spicy but kept drawing me back, and it paired beautifully with the gimbap. Overall, the ingredients were fresh and vegetable-forward, so the meal did not feel heavy afterward. It felt much lighter than regular gimbap while still being filling, so I think it would suit not only people on a diet but anyone who wants a healthy meal.

A satisfying lunch between Euljiro and Myeongdong
If you are looking for a simple but filling lunch in Myeongdong or Euljiro, I would recommend 29 Tamago Euljiro Branch. The fresh, made-to-order keto gimbap and tangy spicy jjolmyeon were both satisfying, and I also loved the relaxed atmosphere where we could eat while looking out the window. Next time, I would like to try the other keto gimbap options one by one. For a healthy and tasty casual Korean meal, I recommend 29 Tamago as an Euljiro 3-ga lunch stop.
