Parasol and wine table picnic rental at Mangwon Han River: Picnic List

Fall is picnic season... if you don't go on a picnic in weather like this, it's a real loss in life. So off I went again with my friends to Mangwon Han River Park for a picnic. If you skip camping-picnicking ("camp-nic") in weather like this, you're losing out on life. Let's go!

I got to Mangwon and the weather was amazing~ I wish it was fall 365 days a year. Anyway, I'd only been to Yeouinaru before, so this was my first time in the Mangwon area, and since a friend was coming from far away and luggage felt like too much of a burden, we decided to rent picnic gear in Mangwon instead.

Where is Picnic List Mangwon, and what are the rental terms?

Picnic List Mangwon is located at 1, Mangwon-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. The base rental time is 3 hours, and writing a Naver review adds 1 more hour.

• 🚌 By bus: get off near Mangwon Han River Park or Mangwon Market and walk from there (I took the Mapo 16 bus from Hapjeong, got off at Mangwon Yusuji·Mapo-gu Community Sports Center, and walked 200m!)
• 🚗 Coming from the Han River parking lot: pass under the Mangwon-ro underpass, head toward the roundabout, and it's right there (you'll see the sign straight ahead after the underpass)

We booked ahead on Naver and visited on a weekend, and instead of having to gather everything ourselves, the staff packed it all up for us — so convenient~ I heard that on weekdays it sometimes runs unmanned.

3-item set plus wood table: why the wine table was the most useful

We ended up renting these three items plus an extra wood table, and that wine table was seriously, seriously useful.

It's a table that lets you stand a wine bottle upright — if you don't have anywhere to put a tall bottle, I highly recommend this one.

We rented a parasol, but most other people seemed to bring tents instead, and there are plenty of other useful picnic items available to rent too, for reference! Plus everything is bundled into just-what-you-need sets, which is really nice!

Where to sit down in Mangwon Han River Park

To picnic at Mangwon Han River Park, you head to the lawn across from the Mangwon Han River Bus dock shown on the map — that's the designated picnic zone where tents are allowed too.

Once we found a spot, it was time to set up the ultimate mood-maker — the parasol — first.

How to put up the picnic parasol yourself

Open up the parasol they gave us and it comes apart like this — first you spread out the base like so.

Then you take off the black cap, slot it into the base, and turn the handle-screw thing next to it to lock the lower and middle poles tightly together.

Do the same for the last section and it's done!

We got lucky and found a shady spot, but the parasol will block the stray sunlight anyway... without it, you'd be sitting under direct sun the whole time, so I really recommend this item!

How big is the wood table, and how much fits on it?

The table looks small in photos, but surprisingly a lot fits on it. That said, the wine table can hold a wine bottle plus one or two side dishes, while the wood table can fit dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken), fried snacks, and even a bowl of yeoptteok (spicy stir-fried rice cakes). Plenty of size~

Returning the gear after 5 hours: was Picnic List Mangwon worth it?

When it's time to go, you just fold everything back up the same way and return it. We used the gear for a full 5 hours, which was plenty of time for eating, chatting and hanging out. In this kind of weather, just sitting there feels healing.

As always, renting picnic gear instead of buying it all piece by piece is so much easier and takes way less energy! Plus Picnic List Mangwon is right there, so carrying heavy stuff isn't a burden at all — everyone go enjoy a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park and have a great time with your friends~!
