In short
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch is a cauldron-lid pork belly restaurant in an alley near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. Staff grill the Sodangkkae combo set (pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl) from start to finish, and the hall vents well so clothes pick up less smoke, with wide gaps between tables that suit a group dinner. Every time I need a dinner spot near Gyodae Station I rack my brain over where to go, so this time I dug up a genuinely hidden gem and I'm writing it up.
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch: hours and parking
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch is a cauldron-lid pork belly place in an alley near Gyodae Station, open weekdays 11:00-23:00 (last order 22:00) with a break time from 15:00-17:00, and weekends 12:00-23:00 (last order 22:00). Takeout, delivery, reservations, and parking (behind the building) are all available.
When you're picking a spot for a weekend or weekday evening dinner with coworkers or friends, everyone has their own checklist right? Good meat quality is a given, wide tables, not too smoky, and above all — a place where nobody has to sacrifice themselves grilling the whole meal.
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch checked every single one of those boxes!

It's tucked into an alley near Gyodae Station, so getting there by subway is super convenient. There's parking behind the building and reservations are possible, which made it perfect for locking in a group dinner ahead of time.

Is the hall good for groups, and how smoky does it get?
The thing I loved most the moment I walked in was how well the ventilation system at Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch worked. At most cauldron-lid pork belly places the smoke is so thick your clothes reek and your eyes sting, but here the air was genuinely clean and fresh. The tables were spaced generously too — ideal for a group to gather, chat, and drink.

What comes in the Sodangkkae combo set
The second we sat down, there was no need to deliberate — we ordered the signature Gyodae Station dinner staple, the 'Sodangkkae combo set'!

They're known for using really good cuts of meat, so my expectations were high before we even took a bite.

With the combo set you get chewy skin-on pork belly, thick-cut pork neck, and pork jowl with an unreal fat-to-lean ratio, all served together at once.

The really amazing part is that they don't just put meat on the giant cauldron-lid griddle — underneath they pile on well-fermented napa kimchi, crunchy seasoned bean sprouts, and fragrant water dropwort (minari).

As the meat fat drips down, it soaks into the kimchi and minari with this savory richness, and between the sizzling sound and the smell coming off the cauldron lid, I nearly lost it.
Staff grill the pork from start to finish
One reason I'd absolutely recommend Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch as a Gyodae Station dinner spot is that the staff grill the meat completely from start to finish!

You know how at group dinners someone always ends up stuck holding the tongs, flipping meat the whole time, barely eating and missing out on the conversation?

Here, with expert-level skill, they grill everything golden brown right on time — crisp outside, juicy inside. We just got to chat comfortably and pick up the cooked meat as it came, which was so nice.

How the pork belly, neck and jowl taste, plus the blue crab doenjang stew
I tried the well-grilled pork belly plain, no dipping sauce, and the chewiness of the skin with the savory juiciness of the meat bursting in my mouth was pure art. The pork neck wasn't dry at all, super moist, and the pork jowl had that signature slightly crunchy texture that was fantastic too.
The crab doenjang (soybean paste) stew that came with it was genuinely amazing too. Full of crab aroma with real crab meat in it, so I kept reaching for it as a palate cleanser haha.
The most perfect combo was wrapping the meat with the minari and kimchi that had grilled in the cauldron fat, topped with a bit of ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste)! The sharp, fragrant kick of the minari completely cut through the richness of the meat, so it never got heavy and I just kept going back for more.

It felt almost wasteful to eat each wrap so fast............. I was sad watching the meat disappear because it was that good!!!!

Yukhoe (beef tartare) topped with egg yolk
The beef tartare visuals were especially incredible! Over the bright red fresh tartare sits a round egg yolk — pop it and mix it all together, and you get a chewy yet tender texture with savoriness spreading through your whole mouth.

Eating it before or between bites of the rich cauldron-grilled meat made it the perfect drinking snack and palate cleanser, and the drinks just kept flowing. If you want the full course near Gyodae Station — proper cauldron-lid pork belly plus fresh beef tartare — or you're looking for a no-fail group dinner spot, definitely try the Sodangkkae combo set at Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch! It nails meat quality, service, and atmosphere all at once, so I'm already planning to come back for another get-together soon.
