Seoul Korean restaurant in Seocho: ugeoji hotpot for two, Huiyeol
In short
Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is a private-room Korean restaurant on the basement level right in front of the Supreme Court, a short walk from exit 10 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. The writer and her husband shared ugeoji jeongol (napa cabbage hotpot), hanwoo galbi pot rice and a hanwoo bulgogi rice bowl, and the hotpot alone felt like 3–4 servings with tender beef throughout. Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is a good pick for a filling Korean meal that even ends with sungnyung (scorched rice tea) and roasted corn.

Today I'm introducing a Gyodae Station restaurant — Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch 😊 The Korean dishes here were all really good overall, from the ugeoji soup to the ugeoji jeongol (napa cabbage hotpot) to the hot pot rice — every single thing was satisfying 🍚
The ugeoji jeongol especially had such a generous portion that I was surprised the moment it hit the table, and the meat was tender with plenty of ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves) packed in, so it was hearty and filling 😋 The broth was rich and piping hot too, so it worked great as a hangover-cure meal 🙌 If you're looking for a restaurant with generous portions of Korean food near Gyodae Station, let me introduce Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch right now ✨

What's on the menu at Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch

Huiyeol has a wide range on offer, from a lunch special to dishes good for dinner 🍚 I wanted to eat something filling that day, so I ordered the ugeoji jeongol and the hot pot rice 😊 Eating warm broth together with hot pot rice felt like a proper full meal, which I liked 💛

Ugeoji jeongol: how much hotpot do two people get?

I ordered the ugeoji jeongol, and the portion alone was really generous 😆 It looked like enough for 3 to 4 people, so it was quite a lot for two of us 🙌 But my husband and I ate it together, and it was so good that we finished it all, no leftovers 😂 If you're looking for a restaurant near Gyodae Station with generous portions of Korean food, this should satisfy you 💛

The broth of the ugeoji jeongol was rich and tasty from the first spoonful, making it perfect as a hangover-cure dish too 😋 It was loaded with ugeoji and generous with meat, so there was plenty to eat beyond just the broth 🙌 The meat especially was so tender that it made me want to try Huiyeol's grilled meat menu separately too 💛 Eating the ugeoji and tender meat together was hearty and satisfying bite after bite ✨

Hanwoo galbi pot rice with sweet marinated short ribs

I also tried the hanwoo galbi hot pot rice, and the seasoned short ribs were really tasty 🍚 The seasoning was sweetly infused, so it went well with the rice, and the ribs were well-cooked and tender to chew 😋 The combination of the warm, nutty hot pot rice with the sweet hanwoo short ribs was really good 💛 Where the ugeoji jeongol was rich and hearty, the hanwoo galbi hot pot rice was a bit sweeter and cleaner to enjoy ✨

Hanwoo bulgogi rice bowl: the lighter option

The hanwoo bulgogi rice bowl was mild and light, not overpowering at all 🍚 The bulgogi wasn't chewy at all — it was tender and went down smoothly with the rice 😋
The seasoning wasn't overly sweet or salty either, so it was easy to enjoy as a whole meal 💛 If you're looking for a Korean dish near Gyodae Station that's hearty but not too heavy, I'd recommend the hanwoo bulgogi rice bowl too ✨

Finishing the meal with sungnyung and roasted corn
If you've had hot pot rice, of course you have to finish with warm sungnyung (scorched rice tea) 🍚 Sungnyung — pouring hot water over the scorched rice at the bottom of the pot — really lives up to being called Koreans' dessert haha 😂

Even though I was already full, having the nutty sungnyung on top of it made the meal feel properly finished 💛

Before leaving Huiyeol near Gyodae Station after your meal, you can also grab some warm roasted corn 🌽 It was crunchy and nutty, nice as a light dessert or snack, and perfect for cleansing the palate after the meal 😊

Eating a filling Korean meal and then finishing off with roasted corn made for a nicely satisfying ending 💛
