Daegu lamb skewer restaurant, 20 sirloin servings a day: Yangbokjeom
In short
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is a lamb skewer restaurant in the food alley by Dongdaegu Station in Dong-gu, Daegu. A married couple ordered wangkkochi (jumbo lamb skewers), the lamb sirloin skewers capped at 20 servings a day, yangdduibap (lamb fried rice) and okmyeon (corn noodles), and the skewers were thick with no gamy smell, so they added a second plate. Yangbokjeom's yangdduibap tasted better here than at other branches, making this branch worth a trip for anyone after lamb without the funk.

After running errands at Shinsegae Department Store by Dongdaegu Station, we were wondering what to eat around the food alley in front of the station — that's how we ended up at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch!

Where do you park at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch?
We got lucky and found a spot right in front of the restaurant, so we parked along the curb 🚗 On weekdays and weekends, there's no enforcement on the street out front after 6pm.
There are separate lots too 🅿️ There's a public paid parking lot within 500m, and I'd especially recommend the one across from the IM Bank Sincheon 4-dong Branch!

A wide hall with 6- and 8-person tables for groups
The interior of Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is really spacious too. There's a main hall right as you walk in, and on the left side there are 6-person and 8-person tables, which looked perfect for group gatherings. We looked around a bit and sat at a 4-person table by the window ❣️

There were aprons and high chairs available on one side of the restaurant too. Shall we get into ordering now?

Three sauces and pink salt, mixed to taste
On one side of the table were the three essential sauces for lamb skewers plus pink salt. You know lamb skewers taste great just dipped in pink salt, right? But I'm the type who has to mix curry, cumin, and chalryo sauce together...!

On the left is my plate with all three mixed together, on the right is my husband's plate, dipping into each one separately, minus the cumin 👀✨ Make your sauce however suits your taste, your mood, or your day!

Wangkkochi and lamb sirloin skewers, only 20 servings a day
First we ordered one Yangbokjeom wangkkochi (jumbo skewer) and one lamb sirloin skewer. They said the lamb sirloin skewer uses hand-picked top-grade sirloin and is sold in a daily limit of 20 servings.

Side dishes: pickled radish, zha cai and peanuts
Oh right! We were so distracted by the lamb skewers we almost forgot about the side dishes — pickled radish, zha cai (Chinese pickled mustard), and peanuts. The salty flavor of the zha cai was addictive, so we refilled it once, haha. The pickled radish had a yuzu-like scent and flavor that refreshed the palate between bites 🍋

Why Yangbokjeom's yangdduibap tasted better at this branch
And an essential menu item, yangdduibap (lamb fried rice). Why was it so much better here than at other Yangbokjeom branches...? Yangdduibap is savory lamb, crunchy kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), and rice — whether it was the lamb aroma or some special spice, it made this branch's yangdduibap taste even better than other locations.
Mix in the seaweed flakes on top too, and it fills you up a bit while the lamb finishes cooking.
210g and 8 skewers per serving: how big the lamb skewers are
Meanwhile, the lamb skewers, which look noticeably beefier than at other lamb skewer places, were cooking quickly. Most other lamb restaurants serve 200g and 10 skewers per portion, but Yangbokjeom's lamb skewers are 210g and 8 skewers...! You'll really feel the difference in person — the lamb is that much bigger than at typical places.
Did you know? 🤓☝️ Like beef, lamb tastes best when cooked only until the pink disappears! Cooking it to about 80–90% doneness gives you the most tender, delicious result — there's even a sign at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch explaining this.

The yangdduibap at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch, better than the other locations ❣️

Thick lamb skewers with no gamy smell, and a second plate
Since cooking it 100% through makes it tough, let's finally taste the lamb skewers at 80–90% doneness 🍖❣️

Clean lamb flavor, no gamy smell whatsoever. Each skewer had thick, meaty chunks packed with juice — insane...!

It melted in our mouths so softly, it practically disappeared bite after bite. It melted like beef, so we ended up ordering another whole plate haha.

What does Yangbokjeom's okmyeon taste like?
Since our appetite had exploded by then, we ordered the okmyeon (corn noodles) we'd always wanted to try! I'd read online beforehand that it tastes like pork kimchi jjigae (stew) — is that true? We tried this spicy, hot corn noodle dish that makes you crave another drink, and here's what we found 🤤💦
Yangbokjeom generally serves huge portions, and the okmyeon (corn noodles) was no exception.

It really did taste like a spicy kimchi jjigae with noodles added, with a slight smoky char that made it taste a bit like jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) too — a familiar flavor overall for Yangbokjeom's okmyeon 🍜 We didn't drink, but if you're drinking, this dish would pair really well.

Verdict: lamb skewers without the gamy smell near Dongdaegu Station
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch, a Dongdaegu Station favorite for lamb skewers, stands out with a yangdduibap that's noticeably better than at other locations, and lamb skewers that are big, thick, and completely free of any gamy smell — so you can fill up without leaving with that meaty odor lingering. If you're looking for a place to eat near Dongdaegu Station and want lamb without the funky smell, I'd recommend Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch ❣️
