Why we chose Modak Texas Barbecue Palgongsan Branch for a Palgongsan steak dinner

This time we visited Modak Texas Barbecue Palgongsan Branch. We were planning a drive and date around Palgongsan and went looking for somewhere to eat, which is how we ended up here.

I wanted to write up a story about eating good meat again after a while. Palgongsan has so many good restaurants that it's always hard to decide where to eat, but this time I really wanted to enjoy meat properly, so I looked around and landed here.

To cut to the conclusion first: if you like meat, this is a satisfying place to eat. Palgongsan in particular has a lot of spots where you can linger and take your time rather than just eat and leave, so I think it'd be a great addition to a Palgongsan date course.

What is the atmosphere like inside Modak Palgongsan?

Modak Texas Barbecue Palgongsan Branch is on the 1st floor at 290 Palgongsan-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, South Korea. The first thing I noticed on arrival was the overall clean, comfortable atmosphere.

Total American vibes with the interior, haha! It looked fine for a family meal, and just as comfortable for a group of friends or a date. Since a lot of families visit Palgongsan, I think it'd work well for anyone looking for a family gathering spot in the area too.

If it's your birthday, mention it in advance and they'll celebrate with you, and there's a review event running until September 30, so keep that in mind!

We sat down and slowly looked through the menu. This time we ordered the Texas platter set for two and the new lobster dish.

There was a separate lunch special menu, and they also had Palgong Ale from Daedo Brewery!

While we waited for the meat to come out, we spent the time looking around the restaurant and taking photos.

They also have a baby chair on hand, so it's a good spot to bring a baby along too! Behind the baby chair you can see meat aging away 🥩🎶

How did the Texas platter for two taste?

The food finally arrived, and it looked pretty appetizing right off the bat. Meat always looks even more exciting in person than in photos. This is especially a dish where you can really taste the meat itself, so I dug in with high expectations.

On the first bite, the texture of the meat was great, and the flavor came through more the more I chewed, so it was delicious. The side dishes paired well with the meat too, and there was fun in mixing and matching combinations. I personally prefer meat where you can really taste the meat itself rather than something too heavily seasoned, and this hit that mark.

What made it even more satisfying was that the friend I went with said it was delicious too. A meat restaurant is always more satisfying when the people you're with enjoy it, not just you, haha. I think this would be a great reference for anyone looking for a good steak restaurant in Dong-gu, Daegu.

One thing I personally liked was being able to eat without rushing, taking our time in a relaxed atmosphere. If you plan a course of driving up to Palgongsan, having a good meal, and then stopping by a café, it'd make a great day-trip or date course. Especially on a nice day, just driving around Palgongsan is refreshing in itself. So I think this is worth checking out as a meal stop for anyone looking for a Palgongsan date course.

Homemade beef stew and nachos at Modak

This is the homemade beef stew and nachos, and the combination worked really well alongside the meat. Eating nothing but meat can get a little heavy, but with these sides added in, we were able to enjoy the meal deliciously right to the end.

What comes with the new lobster dish?

The new lobster dish is currently running a discount of about ₩5,000 off!!

The new lobster dish had plump, meaty flesh and was delicious. Its distinctive ocean flavor came through nicely without any fishy smell.

Inside the lobster there's macaroni, pulled pork, cheese and more. These days taste matters, but let's be honest, being able to take a pretty food photo matters too, haha. The plating all looked great, which made it feel even more delicious.

When is the best time to visit Modak Palgongsan?

If you're looking for somewhere to have a family meal in Palgongsan, want to eat good meat with friends, or need a place to eat while out on a drive-and-date, this is worth a visit. Especially if you're searching for a good meat restaurant in Palgongsan, I'd recommend checking the menu and location before you go. Having a good meal here and then heading to a nearby café would make for a relaxed day out.
