It feels like there are more and more hot spots popping up in Daegu lately, haha. Now you can finally get dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot) here too — a unique, hearty dish that's perfect for building up strength. I went and tried the Daegu-style dak hanmari that launched on September 17 at a lunch spot on Deuran-ro famous for its clean, refreshing naengmyeon, so let me share my piping-hot review!
Where is Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu, and what time does it close?
Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is located at 79-1 Deuran-ro, 2nd floor, Suseong-gu, Daegu. It opens at 11:00 AM and closes at 8:00 PM.

Parking at Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu
Besides the dedicated parking lot in the building itself, there are other lots you can use depending on the time of day, so parking felt easy and stress-free.
It's so nice that this is the first directly-run branch opened in Daegu by a shop from a 60-year-old alley in Geumnam Market, Geumho-dong, Seoul!

I'm so happy I got to try dak hanmari as a seasonal menu item at this lunch spot on Deuran-ro.

As I went up the stairs, there was also a fun little drawing corner set up.
Inside Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu

And right as you walk in, you see autographs from famous people! Haha, I noticed a lot of athletes especially.
The interior is clean and has a touch of luxury. Being on the second floor, the view out the window feels refreshingly open too. The staff were super kind.
Private group room for larger parties

There was also a room toward the back — a private space perfect for group gatherings, making it ideal for a lunch meet-up on Deuran-ro.
Restroom
The restroom was clean too, and mouthwash was provided, which made it easy to keep up good etiquette after the meal.
Self-serve bar with free kimchi refills
The self-serve bar was spotless too. The kitchen is nearly open-concept, and it was so clean and organized that I could trust the hygiene without worry while eating.
Menu prices and what comes in the dak hanmari set

I sat down by the window and immediately ordered the main dish, the dak hanmari set!

The vinegar, soy sauce, and chili powder set out on the table were so clean and tidy.

Ordering the dak hanmari as a set at this lunch spot on Deuran-ro gets you domestic chicken, plenty of vegetables, and even kalguksu noodles and dumplings — the generous portion size alone was satisfying.
Daegu-style dak hanmari: how to eat it and how it tastes

As soon as we ordered, a big pot came out packed with whole chicken and potatoes. Then they poured in a broth that looked clear yet rich.

They said once the broth boils, you add the vegetables that come with it and eat those first. The vegetables also came in a really generous amount — fresh bean sprouts, napa cabbage, green onion, mushrooms, onion, and tteokbokki rice cakes piled up high. Once the broth started boiling, we dumped in all the vegetables.

The vegetables cook quickly, so you can pull them out right away. Dipped in the special soy sauce, it really wakes up your appetite, I'd say. The crisp texture with deep savory flavor hits you right away.

I couldn't resist the tteokbokki rice cakes either, haha. Dipped in the spicy dadagi (chili paste), they were such a special treat. The chewy rice cake was exactly to my taste.
Then you get to eat the tender, well-cooked chicken. The chicken was so fresh, with a remarkable chewiness, and completely free of any gamey smell — clean-tasting, and when dipped in the special sauce, the flavor just clings to it in a way that's not ordinary at all... My husband, who usually says he's full after a few bites and puts down his spoon, ended up overeating, so that tells you everything, haha.

Finishing with kalguksu noodles and dumplings
Now for the finale — kalguksu noodles and dumplings. Cooking the noodles in broth infused with chicken and vegetable flavor, how could that not be delicious...

The kalguksu was tasty with the spicy-tangy dadagi mixed in, and it was also clean and refreshing enjoyed as is with the pure broth flavor...
And the kimchi served as a side dish was so good that I refilled it from the self-serve bar, haha.

If the broth runs low, you can add more, haha. You can also add extra noodles...
The dumplings were so good too... I debated whether to order more but was too full to eat them. Next time I want to go with a bigger group and try the kimchi dumplings too. That was my dak hanmari set from Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu, the perfect lunch on Deuran-ro for the coming cool weather.
