Yeouido tteokbokki spot 30 minutes before the fireworks: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a wheat-rice-cake tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) and bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant on a corner of IFC Mall's second basement level in Yeouido, Seoul, right by the exit toward Yeouido Station. Thirty minutes before the fireworks festival, the writer took an outdoor table and ordered the combo set of tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (blood sausage), gimbap and odeng (fish cake), which arrived faster than expected even on a packed day. The chewy wheat rice cakes and the moist intestine sundae with no off smell make Hyeonseonine the top tteokbokki pick in Yeouido, a neighborhood with few of them.

If you're looking for a good tteokbokki spot in Yeouido, I strongly recommend Hyeonseonine's Yeouido IFC Mall branch! Great location, varied menu — a must whenever you're craving bunsik (Korean snack food)!!

What to eat in Yeouido 30 minutes before the fireworks festival
Went to Yeouido after a while to watch the last fireworks show 💛

Look at that view. With about 30 minutes left before the fireworks started, my stomach was growling, so I looked for something quick to eat and — jackpot — Hyeonseonine, a Yeouido favorite I hadn't visited in a while! There's oddly not much good tteokbokki in Yeouido, so this place is like rain after a drought. It's a holy site for wheat rice cake fans — even though it's wheat rice cake, it's chewy and soft, with the sauce soaked all the way through. Genuinely delicious spicy too, so go for the spicy option if you can!

I didn't expect much, having not seen fireworks in years, but they were so beautiful and moving ㅜㅜ Korea is the best.
Hyeonseonine's Euljiro branch, Yongsan flagship and Yeouido branch
When I worked in Euljiro, there was a Hyeonseonine right in front of my office and I genuinely loved it ㅜㅜ Both the instant-cooked tteokbokki and the regular tteokbokki are amazing in their own ways. Hyeonseonine especially gives you intestine with the sundae (Korean blood sausage), which I love. The tteokbokki is great, but the sides are all so good too — what's their secret.
The Yongsan branch is apparently the flagship, and it started as a street cart. I loved the branch by my old office so much that I tried to visit Yongsan too, but the cart was torn down and it moved into a proper storefront. I ate there and the flagship tasted the same! Also noting that the flagship sells beer too.

Where the Hyeonseonine IFC Mall branch is, and where to sit
Hyeonseonine's Yeouido IFC Mall branch is right at the corner where the mall exits toward Yeouido Station — note that it's underground. I was worried because of the huge fireworks crowd that day, but luckily I got a seat at an outdoor table. They warned the food would take a while, but it came out faster than expected and I ate happily.

The 32,000-won beer set, and why the combo set won this time
Another great thing about Hyeonseonine is — they sell beer, right? I especially recommend the beer set. Tteokbokki + fried snacks + sundae + gimbap plus two draft beers for ₩32,000 is genuinely great value. But since I drove that day, I skipped the beer and ordered the combo set instead! It's tteokbokki + fried snacks + sundae + gimbap + odeng (fish cake) — a good-value combo. For something simple, go with the regular tteokbokki; for a full meal, the instant-cooked version is the move. Both have very different charms. Instant-cooked tteokbokki with beer is true love.

The tables are a bit tight, but you can also eat at the outdoor tables right next door, so there wasn't much of a wait. The self-serve bar was neatly set up too :)

My order arrived and it's genuinely generous ☺️ Hyeonseonine has both instant-cooked and regular tteokbokki, and I can't choose between them because they're both so good in different ways ㅜㅜ If I'd had more time, I might have gone with the instant-cooked version..?

How spicy is the medium wheat-rice-cake tteokbokki?
Hyeonseonine's spiciest level is really spicy, so I always seem to order medium. Spice levels are mild, medium, and spicy. Since this place is known specifically for its wheat rice cakes, the odeng (fish cake) takes a back seat in the tteokbokki — it's really all about the rice cakes!!!

The fried snacks come in a nice variety too — the kimmari (fried seaweed rolls) and vegetable fritters are especially good.

Sundae served with intestine sundae as well
My favorite — the intestine sundae!!! I really want to know where Hyeonseonine sources theirs. No gamy smell at all, chewy and moist ㅜㅜㅜ so good!

The regular sundae is also super chewy and delicious.

Cleaned up the fried snacks nicely too.

The rice ball is great if you want something simple ㅜㅜ Yeouido really doesn't have much good tteokbokki, but Hyeonseonine is number one for sure! Cleared the Yongsan flagship, cleared the Euljiro branch, and now cleared the Yeouido branch too. I love Hyeonseonine.
