Choco brownie bingsu at a Daegu café near The Hyundai: Daenghaus

Hours: 11:00–22:00. The daycare runs 8am–8pm, and the café runs 11am–10pm.

Parking: There's the Seomun Yangnyeongsi public parking lot right in front of Daenghaus. It's paid on weekdays and free on weekends. But since it's a public lot, spots are limited and it gets busy.

Daenghaus&Bingsuking is a dog-friendly café in Jung-gu, Daegu, that I ducked into after finishing up shopping at The Hyundai Daegu, trying to escape the heat. This vacation my husband and I decided to skip a big trip and just enjoy good food and shopping instead, haha. On the last day of the break, we headed to The Hyundai Department Store in Daegu.

We'd been walking around for a while and it was so hot that I suddenly wanted bingsu (shaved ice dessert) so badly, haha. So I looked around for a place nearby, and that's how I found Daenghaus&Bingsuking.

Can you visit Daenghaus&Bingsuking without a dog?

Daenghaus&Bingsuking is a dog café that you can visit even without a dog. At first, since it's called a dog café, I assumed you had to bring one along, but it turns out visiting without a dog is totally fine!

Since they said just coming for bingsu like we were was also fine, we went straight in. They had all kinds of bingsu, plus drinks, desserts, and even full meal options — the menu was a lot bigger than I expected.

We deliberated for a while, but chocolate was calling our names that day, so we ordered the choco brownie bingsu for ₩17,000.

Dog café on the 1st floor, doggy daycare on the 2nd and 3rd

Daenghaus&Bingsuking also runs a space for dogs under 13kg along with a doggy daycare. The 1st floor operates as a dog café, while the 2nd and 3rd floors run as a doggy daycare.

The 1st floor café itself was bigger and had a better vibe than I expected. There was a wide-open space for dogs to run around, and watching all these cute dogs wandering here and there was honestly healing for us too, haha.

The outdoor artificial-turf pool and life jackets

Daenghaus&Bingsuking's outdoor area has an artificial-turf pool, so it's also used as a Daegu dog swimming pool. Once we stepped outside, sure enough — there was the artificial turf area with an actual pool!

Seeing dog life jackets ready right next to the pool made me realize this place was really built for dogs, haha. There was even a separate space for drying off fur after a swim, which surprised me even more.

On a nice day, it seemed like a great setup — dogs running around outside while their owners relax in the café with bingsu or drinks. If you're looking for a Daegu dog swimming pool, this seems like a perfect summer visit.

How does the 17,000-won choco brownie bingsu taste?

The choco brownie bingsu (₩17,000) is bingsu with brownie pieces and cheesecake pieces mixed in. And then the long-awaited choco brownie bingsu arrived! Just looking at it screamed 'I am chocolate!!!' haha. Anyone who loves chocolate would be delighted just by the visuals, but what really got me was the brownie pieces and cheesecake pieces mixed inside.

With every spoonful, sometimes you'd bite into brownie, sometimes cheesecake, along with the shaved ice — the texture was really fun. Sweet chocolate plus dense, fudgy brownie made it feel like a proper dessert experience, haha.

Cold bingsu after shopping on a hot day tasted even better, and getting to watch the dogs while relaxing with my husband after a while was nicer than I expected.

Who Daenghaus&Bingsuking suits best

Our dog Dam lives in Yecheon, so we never had a reason to specifically seek out a dog café in Daegu — but being able to visit without a dog made it an easy, no-pressure stop for us.

On the flip side, dog owners would probably enjoy this even more. You get to eat great dessert in the café while your dog runs around in a spacious area, and if the weather's nice, they can even go for a swim.

If you're wondering where to take your dog this summer, Daenghaus&Bingsuking is worth a visit as a Daegu dog swimming pool. We came for bingsu this time, but next time we're near The Hyundai, I'd love to stop by again, haha.

This was a place we rushed to on the last day of our vacation, but we got to enjoy tasty bingsu, watch cute dogs, and escape the heat all at once — a pretty satisfying time. I'd recommend it both to people visiting with their dogs and to people like us who just came for dessert!
