These days, once the evening breeze turns cool, you really feel like fall has arrived 🍂 I was spending the evening in Seochon with a friend and wanted a simple coffee, so we stopped by Oldsse Seochon (올딧세 서촌).

Bottom line first: the late-evening mood here was even better than daytime. The hanok's quiet, timeworn atmosphere plus the soft lighting made just sitting there feel like pure autumn...🤎 If you're looking for a Jongno café, a Seochon café, and want the vibe to match, this one's worth saving!

I visited Oldsse Seochon in the late evening! I was hoping for something a bit quieter and more relaxed than the crowded-hotspot feel, and it was exactly right. Soft lighting, the outside growing dark, the hanok's wood texture feeling even warmer — it really felt like an autumn evening 🍁

Sitting across from a friend chatting about small, silly things — those are somehow the moments that stick with you the longest. If you're looking for a Jongno café to have coffee and talk in, Oldsse Seochon's mood fits really well. Especially recommended if you prefer a calm Seochon café over a loud, busy one!

Seochon is a neighborhood where just walking the alleys feels good, and once the weather turns cool the mood shifts completely. Oldsse Seochon sits naturally within those alleys. The hanok structure blends so well with Seochon's particular atmosphere that I already thought 'this place feels good' before even going in.

This felt like exactly the kind of 'Gyeongbokgung feel-good café' people talk about these days...! It's not overly decorated — it keeps the hanok's own charm, which I liked even more. Daytime probably has a different mood, but personally, visiting late in the evening felt much calmer and nicer 🌙 Exactly the kind of mood that Seochon-atmosphere-café hunters would love.

This day was really just a casual coffee run, so my friend and I both ordered iced americanos.

Days with a full dessert spread are great too, but sometimes just ordering coffee and talking is the best part. With an iced americano each in front of us, we went from catching up to totally pointless chatter haha, and before we knew it, time had flown by.

Oldsse also sells hand-drip coffee and a variety of other coffee drinks, so next time I want to come a bit earlier and try something else. ☕️

The cup was so pretty too — genuinely the essence of Korean spirit,,haha (bit shy admitting that...)

Inside Oldsse Seochon: rafters, wood tones and soft light

Personally, what I was most satisfied with was the space's atmosphere. There are plenty of pretty cafés these days, but Oldsse Seochon gave off a strong sense of 'fitting the neighborhood of Seochon' rather than just being pretty.

The hanok's rafters and wood tones, the soft lighting, even the Seochon alley visible through the window. So no matter where you take a photo, it tends to turn out with a pretty good mood 📸

This would also suit anyone looking for a 'Gyeongbokgung feel-good café' to visit after a date near Gyeongbokgung.
