Balsan Station restaurant with tablet ordering: Gungmin Nakgopsae
In short
Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is a nakgopsae (octopus, beef intestine and shrimp stew) restaurant in Balsan-dong, Gangseo, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Balsan Station Exit 6. Every table in the wide hall has its own order tablet, and the nakgopsae is made with domestic hanwoo beef intestine; instead of fried rice, udon noodles went in from the start and simmered down in the sauce. Big pieces of octopus and shrimp plus roomy spacing between tables made Gungmin Nakgopsae an easy choice for a Balsan Station group dinner.

The weather's gotten noticeably cooler lately with a nice breeze blowing through, and at times like this doesn't a spicy, fiery broth just call your name? So today I went out for a spicy lunch that matched the weather perfectly, and it was a real winner! I'm talking about Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch in Balsan-dong, Gangseo!

Where is Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch, and what are the hours?
Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is just a 5-minute walk from Balsan Station Exit 6, so accessibility is great! 🚶♂️ Being so close to the subway station made it really convenient to get to by public transit.

Is the hall big enough for a Balsan Station group dinner?
Stepping inside, the clean and pleasant interior welcomed us! The tables were spaced out generously, so it would be perfectly suited for group gatherings or a Balsan Station restaurant group dinner spot.

Every table has a modern order tablet (kiosk) installed, so you can easily browse the menu and order!
Side dishes start with seaweed soup
Side dishes

Once we finished ordering, a neat spread of side dishes was set out! From refreshing, clean seaweed soup to tangy dongchimi white kimchi, crunchy kkakdugi, fresh perilla leaves and pickled radish, plus a savory mayonnaise sauce to cool down the spice! It was such a solid lineup that pairs perfectly with nakgopsae, my anticipation shot up even before the main dish arrived.

The hanwoo beef intestine nakgopsae arrives
Finally, the main dish nakgopsae showed up, filling the pot to the brim! The second the pot was set down, we let out a gasp of admiration.

Korean beef intestine, plump big shrimp, and chunky octopus—the ingredients were piled in without holding back!

Usually when I go to nakgopsae places, I'm often let down by tiny shrimp or small octopus, but at Gungmin the shrimp were big and full, and the octopus was completely chunky too—it looked filling just to look at!

The in-store guide to eating nakgopsae
There's a helpful sign at the table titled 'How to Eat Nakgopsae Deliciously'!

It says to stir evenly so the glass noodles don't burn, and once it starts boiling, adjust the heat and simmer it down until it's thick and rich. It even had the tip that it tastes better with perilla leaves and mayonnaise, so I made sure to follow that closely!

Why we added the udon noodles from the start
We ordered udon noodles as an add-on instead of fried rice! We put the udon noodles in right from the moment the ingredients started bubbling and let them simmer down together.

If you're like us and love well-cooked, soaked-through noodles, I'd recommend adding them from the start! The deep, spicy sauce made with a beef bone broth base soaks all the way into the noodles, and you end up with truly next-level, incredibly tasty udon.

Octopus texture, intestine fat and perilla leaf wraps
I scooped up a big spoonful of the well-simmered nakgopsae and tried it—my mouth was completely full of fresh, chunky ingredients!

The octopus had that proper chewy bite still intact, and the Korean beef intestine bursts with savory fat right in your mouth.

Put pickled radish on a perilla leaf, add plump octopus, shrimp, and mayonnaise, and wrap it all up in one bite—it's truly heavenly...!

Good for lunch, and for delivery too
This time I came in person and had a really satisfying lunch, but Gungmin Nakgopsae is also famous as a delivery favorite! Ordering it delivered at home or the office would still hold up just as well as eating it in the restaurant.
Everything was perfect at Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch—the friendly owner, the freshness of top-tier ingredients, and that addictive spiciness! If you're looking for a great lunch spot around Balsan or Magok, or searching for a Balsan Station restaurant to enjoy with coworkers for a group dinner, don't hesitate to visit! You'll be 100% satisfied 💯
